Per my discussion on security (which may be way off base but I want to at least mention it) I read an interesting post by Joseph Smarr of Plaxo on using oAuth to return feeds from Netflix [1]. In this case though the authorization works up until getting the feeds themselves (in other words it provides the consumer with the ability to read your interests – i.e. personalization).

 

A further step may protect the feeds themselves as well and that *may* tie into OpenSearch (which I mean by that is that I know *how* it could tie in and be useful, but it may be out of scope).
