Hello,
I'm hoping to use OpenScales within a new project of mine, but have
run into an issue I'm hoping somebody may be able to help me with.
I'm new to working with co-ordinate systems, so hopefully this is just
a beginner level mistake.
What I've noticed is that co-ordinates as they appear reported in
decimal degrees in OpenScales (including in the current web based
demo) do not appear (to me) to be accurate.
What I'm seeing can be reproduced as follows:
Firstly as a reference, locate to a known map point using another
mapping service. I've been using the GPO Melbourne, Australia (this is
the building in the northeast corner of the intersection of Elizabeth
& Bourke Sts:
http://maps.yahoo.com/#conf=1&start=1&lat=-37.81416608070415&lon=144.96407389640808&zoom=18&mvt=m&trf=0
Notice the Long/Lat at this position of -37.814, 144.964
If you then go to the OpenScales web demo (I'm using the Legal
Informations Sample), navigate manually to the same location, the
longitude reported is 144.978. On this map, navigating to a longitude
of 144.964 takes you off sideways to our Docklands area!
I've built OpenScales test apps using v2.0 and v1.2 respectively, in
which I'm seeing the same behaviour.
I can set the map.center attribute with long/lat values retrieved from
Yahoo PlaceFinder, and I'm seeing the same amount of error occuring
with these co=ordinates also.
Just lastly I've noticed what I think is an older implementation of
OpenScales that does seem to work as expected.
This is at:
http://flexmappers.com/openscalessolution
If I navigate manually to the same location, the decimal co-ordinates
are reported as expected.
If anyone can set me straight, I'd be most appreciative :)
Thanks,
Evan
