most basic questions about sharing photos

The two things I most commonly do with my photos is:

1. Create galleries on my own web pages, by simply referencing existing URLs.

2. Insert references to photos in forum threads using either HTML or BBcode.

Yet all the docs mention is sharing to Facebook or Twitter. So, can I do the above? (Trivial on a service such as Flickr.)

Yes.  When you click share on the picture you are given the option to share to twitter or Facebook but are also given a URL to paste into whatever (intended for Email sharing I am sure).

To add a few things:

There isn't a direct way to reference a photo directly with HTML (with the img tag, for example). Ideally you'd want to grab a certain size that isn't the full size, and that feature isn't there yet. It's definitely something that needs to be there and is very much requested for this reason.

And galleries... not yet, but you could probably build something with the Javascript library. This has also been requested a few times. Sounds like a good way to contribute for anyone interested.
