TL;DR
What if...I had an OP instance at Node A and my friend had an instance at Node B. We were both "following" each other which basically means subscribing to each others updates. In addition to following we've granted each other permission to access originals. Say we both went on a vacation, both had cameras and took photos. Once uploaded to our OP Nodes we would obviously see the others' events in our own activity feed. But what if I could click a button to download all of my friend's photos from the vacation into my OP node, directly from his?

I've been thinking about this a lot and the thought of this really excites me. It's 2012 and we don't have an easy way of transferring photos. I don't want to just view a photo you took of me or my family, I probably want to own it. The only options for this always require downloading and saving a file. Horrible.

I don't know if any of you remember AudioGalaxy's tracker but it was one of the awesomest file (music) sharing programs ever. This reminds me much of that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audiogalaxy

Just wanted to get some discussion on this and other possible features.

I love the idea!!!

Would you think can be a problem on this situation:

- I share a picture only to you
- you download it to your node
- then you set this picture as public.

So in first instance, I would like this picture only for you, but now it's for everybody.

Just playing the devil's advocate

Security is probably the biggest concern here. If you grant me access to your original then this is always possible. This would make it easier, but by granting me access to download your photos you're implicitly trusting that I'll do the right thing.

Another option is to do this via push, not pull. So I can push my photos to your OP node and you can approve it. There are pros and cons and there's no reason both can't co-exist.
