Hi everyone,

I've seem variations of this request all over posts, and I've made
some requests of my own which I now understand are too strong.

However, I would like to formalize a request that I think would work
for everyone that wants some more flexibility with the calibration
pose and how calibration data is handled and stored.

Right now, SaveCalibration and LoadCalibration store calibration data
in an inaccessible data structure (what is it, by the way?) that
taunts you when you call it by printing some parameters to the
console. I understand the importance of maintaining OpenNI like this
but I think that a compromise could be reached by implementing a
simple, calibration save to disk function that writes the entire
calibration for a specified user in some format, and then loads from
file the calibration data to a specified user.

Doing this would satisfy the requests of a number of people in three
manners:

1) Those that request that calibration data be available between
"sessions".

2) Those that request another pose/no pose to start a session.

3) Those that are having some trouble with how bodies are being
calibrated.

Thoughts? I think this would be relatively simple and quick to
implement. Are there any plans for this? If not, is it a reasonable
thing to implement? And if not, why?

Thank you for your response.

Hi Zeraphil!

This feature is already on our plan for a future release :-)

Hello Ziv,

Good to know, is there an estimated time frame for its release?

Thanks,
Asaf.

Hi guys,

I was looking how this stuff is beeing saved. Now I found out, that
the class XnUserGeneratorInterfaceContainer is making the dirty work.
You find it here on line 4462-4469.
https://github.com/OpenNI/OpenNI/blob/master/Source/OpenNI/XnOpenNI.cpp

Searching for that class gave me no results...

By the way: In the mid of march, I got an e-mail from PrimeSense, that
they planned to release a new version of OpenNI in the end of march
(seems that they did not match the deadline :) ).
But I got hope, that they will release it in april...

Regards
