Hi, i'm interested in knowing if it would be possible to use OpenNI
and NITE with a normal RGB stereo camera.
The objective would be testing the results between the Kinect and a
stereo camera, with the same skeleton tracking algorithms (offered by
NITE).
What would i need to do to use a stereo camera with OpenNI? Do i need
to write a driver? Do you know the steps that needs to be done to
register the data that comes from the sensors to OpenNI nodes system?
What nodes does NITE requires to do his skeletonization things?
Thanks a lot!

Hello.
If I understand you correctly, then it is not possible.
What you want to do is to use RGB image instead of Depth one.

You can use NITE for skeleton tracking, if you will have some depth
image.
For example you can use 2 RGB cameras to get depth map and use that
map in NITE to track image :) (I think this is not the thing you want
to do :D)

The NITE EULA only allows you to use it with devices that are powered by PrimeSense chips. This includes only Kinect, PrimeSensor, and ASUS Xtion Pro right now.

With a stereoscopic camera you'll have to use some other software for skeleton tracking.

no i actually found out that you can simply build your own module with
image and depth generators just as in the NiSampleModule example given
by OpenNI...ofc if you want to use NITE algorithms you need to have
the depth map too.
And to reply to vahag, yes what i have it's a real syncronous stereo
camera :-)
