Subject: Is OpenLoopz (and OpenLoopz web) dead?
This is the first question in the FAQs, and the answer is:

http://sites.iode.co.uk/openloopz/faq#TOC-Is-OpenLoopz-dead-
"Definitely not!  There was a quiet period towards the end of last
year.  That, coupled with the delay of OpenLoopz Web led some to
believe OpenLoopz might no longer be being worked on.  OpenLoopz is
far from dead!  The Android app will take a back seat in the first
quarter of 2010 however while we concentrate on OpenLoopz Web.  We
will still release bug fixes during this time and once OpenLoopz Web
is ready there will be a new major release of OpenLoopz for Android
(version 2.0) to go with it."

Since it is now July 2011, an answer referring to the first quarter of
2010 **in the furture tense** doesn't exactly inspire confidence in
OpenLoopz being actively supported and developed, and presumably "last
year" means 2009.

Even "OpenLoopz: The future" (http://groups.google.com/group/openloopz/
browse_thread/thread/ed62277f66a4c56b#) hasn't been updated since
March 2011, and the latest forum post (which hasn't received a reply)
was 3 months ago.  None of this points to a project which is actively
under development (or even actively used, which is a real shame).

I really like the idea of OpenLoopz, but I simply can't consider an
Android-only application without cloud synching as a "trusted
system".  Partly this is because I can't trust anything that could all
be lost if I lost my device, and partly it's because I simply can't
manage 200+ tasks on a device with a small screen and a virtual
keyboard, and no import / export.  I've completed the user survey, and
provided plenty of additional information in the comments, but I'm not
terribly hopeful that OpenLoopz web is ever going to appear.

So what needs to happen to get OpenLoopz Web and OpenLoopz 2.0 for
Android moving forwards?  Or should I just give up waiting for it?

Hi Julie,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us about your concerns for
OpenLoopz. It means a lot to hear that our users are staying with us
during this frustrating transitional period.

The current website is embarrassingly out of date and we can only
apologise.  We’ve added a notice to the main page redirecting users to
OpenLoopz.com and we’ve updated the FAQ also.

Rest assured, the Private Beta of OpenLoopz.com *will* launch in late
August - an announcement will be posted to the forum shortly with more
details.

Thank you again for your continued support.
