Hi!
The Openkinect.org homepage has been translated to 5 languages!!!
-Chinese
-Spanish
-Portuguese (Brazil)
-Italian
-French
And I see more is in the works so this is amazing and I wanted to
thank the contributors : Oppilif, Radamés, Kaneabell, and Toni - for
their translation!!
Furthermore, here are a few thoughts on how to make maintenance easier
for everyone - and if you have any other idea or suggestion don't
hesitate:
- Once a page is created, if it contains sections in the =text=
format, an "edit" link will appear for each section to the right of
the page once you're logged in. Using this link edits only that
specific section and automatically prefaces the comment with the name
of the section which is useful for tracking changes. When possible
edit on a per section basis
- In the same spirit, please try to make focused individual changes to
sections etc instead of global scattered changes; so that you can
easily undo changes in a predictable way for instance and for tracking
purposes and for clarity
- Please use the comment line wisely to document the changes you make
by describing what you changed, removed and why etc.
- Use the history tab to track changes for a single page or the
"recent changes" page to keep track of what's happening on the wiki -
http://openkinect.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges - there is also an
RSS feed link on that page
- Use the "minor change" checkmark to notify of unimportant or small
changes that are not important globally
- Don't forget to link your pages together - for instance the 2 links
to "Installation" on the French homepage points to the Getting_Started/
fr page - in French. Even if the language bar should be placed on top
of any English page for which there is a translation, there's no
reason why someone couldn't jump directly to the pages in his own
language if they exist
- When possible, use relative linking to pages using the [[page_name|
optional_text]] format rather than the absolute [
http://openkinect.org/
page_name optional_text] format.
As development continues, it's also important for everyone to keep an
eye on the changes, especially to pages like the Getting Started page
(installation) so that we can maintain as much as possible the
information up to date in all the languages...
Thank you!
