Hi guys,

I have deployed the web interface to my own app engine here: bkandiyal.appspot.com for testing purposes. I'd appreciate it if you could take the time to test it and report any issues :)
It's not 100% complete yet and I'll be making changes often. The sync from the device won't work yet but you can add new notes and stuff.
Also, the Shopping List interface isn't connected with the backend so it won't store your changes for now ;)

Cheers!

Looks very nice.

For adding an item in shopping list, could you add focus after opening
and enter button to save the item.
When adding another item the fields are filled with the previous details.

I like the design similar to the Android environment.
Could you remove the back button and add the Home button?

Thanks, I'm glad you like the design :)

Great idea on replacing the 'Back' button with a 'Home' button! It looks
much better visually.

I've started working on 'press enter to save item' shortcut, will post
once it's done.

I agree, it looks great.

Would be nice if the shopping list mode had a simple input panel and add button on the bottom, similar to the Android app, for cases where all you want to add is the name.

Thanks :)
Cool idea! I think we can have a similar approach when adding a new
shopping list as well :)

Hi Bhaskar,

Just read your new update.

Sorting is a nice touch. Unfortunately it doesn't work on the checkboxes column -- would be nice to sort so completed items are on the bottom for example.

Quick Add seems to work well, but perhaps for consistency with the Android app it should be moved to the bottom?

Looking forward to seeing you hook up with Stanley's new shopping list APIs so the changes can be persisted. (When he says they are ready, of course...)

Regards,

Also, I just noticed that when editing an item, the cancel button works, but the accept button doesn't seem to do anything. Is it a known issue?

I wonder if editing the list is really the right way, or if we should bring up the "Add" dialog again and call it "Edit". That would be more consistent with the Android app, and gives more room to see each field while editing.

Any ideas for mobile landing page?
The app is quite responsive. Just the shopping table is too broad.

In shopping list, clicking settings the second time should also close the settings, not only hide set string settings.

The welcome page could be just a drop down or a list of icons o o the top...

Cheers
Friedger

Hi Aaron and Friedger,

Sorry for the delay in replying and Thanks for the feedback :)

First, about moving the shopping list quick add to the bottom, as much as I would like it to be at the bottom to be consistent with the Android app's interface it won't be well suited for a web browser based interface since if there's a very long list of items the quick add bar would go down to the bottom and the user would have to scroll the page just to reach it. Although there's a way to make the table fixed height and scrollable but I don't know if it would work well with mobile devices. I'll have to test it out for that :)

Also, the editing in the shopping list is a known (and deliberate) issue since it would need a REST call to do the actual edit and since it's not there yet the edit function does nothing for now.

Thanks for the suggestion about having the same 'Add' window for editing items, I'll implement that as well.

I'll add some responsiveness to the shoppinglist table to make it look better on mobile devices :)

The mobile landing page is also in the works as well as the icons for the app (my apologies it took so long, I got busy with bug fixing).

I'll try to implement most of your suggestions this week, thanks! :)

Btw, a question, do we have to support Internet Explorer 9? Since, I'm developing this with HTML5 and CSS3 and IE9's support for both of these isn't fully complete so some things won't be possible without ugly hacks (especially the CSS bugs).

Cheers,
Bhaskar Kandiyal

Regarding browser support, I would try to use some libraries and not
bother too much...

There's a good starting point for fixed footers at http://ryanfait.com/resources/footer-stick-to-bottom-of-page/
