I know we're all focused on this list on Congress but does anybody happen to know where one finds financial disclosure reports for sitting and retired federal judges?

After a little searching, Judicial Watch is what I've been able to find so far.  Here's their about page.

A brief, not particularly helpful explanation from http://www.uscourts.gov/judconf_jurisdictions.htm#Financialuscourts.gov :

Committee on Financial Disclosure: To supervise the filing of financial disclosure reports by judicial officers and employees.

Review financial disclosure reports filed by judges and other judicial branch officers and employees, as required by the Ethics in Government Act, and respond to requests for redaction of such reports, consistent with the Regulations of the Judicial Conference of the United States on Access to Financial Disclosure Reports Filed by Judges and Judiciary Employees Under the Ethics in Government Act of 1978, as Amended.

Approve and modify reporting forms and instructions, as necessary.

Respond to inquiries regarding financial disclosure matters from judges, employees, and the public.

Here are Chief Justice Rehnquist's remarks from May 2000.

Filing requirements are available on this house.gov page summarizing the ethics in government act.

  • (11) a judicial officer as defined under section 109(10); and
  • (12) a judicial employee as defined under section 109(8).
(Incidentally, reading through this law shows me the second unenforced mandate to the comptroller general to undertake periodic studies showing the effectiveness of either congressional or judicial disclosure.)
