Hi All,

Bit of a hacker question:

I am wondering if anyone here has been able to get d3.js working with older versions of IE  (6,7,8) ?

"There are no plans to support IE8-, as it doesn't have SVG."

Not a definitive answer to your question, but

- SVG is not natively supported by IE, but there are 3rd party
plugins. I have not actually tested any yet as I didn't think that is
an option in my scenario, but you may?
- In addition, I have found this project http://code.google.com/p/svgweb/
that is worth a look. I have only downloaded it though and read the
docs so you might beat me to an actual test (I also bookmarked this
https://github.com/mbostock/d3/issues/73)

The folks over at datamarket.com are using the d3.js predecessor,
protovis. They have a method of getting protovis to render in IE6+
using this library they open sourced: https://github.com/DataMarket/protovis-msie

Protovis doesn't have the capabilities as d3.js and is no longer being
developed, but could be a good option if IE support is a necessity as
it can do some of the same things as d3.js.

Cheers,
Andrew

There was a discussion about this on the d3 list some time ago.
Somebody got it working with raphael, it seems.
