The folks over at
datamarket.com are using the d3.js predecessor,
protovis. They have a method of getting protovis to render in IE6+
using this library they open sourced:
https://github.com/DataMarket/protovis-msie
Protovis doesn't have the capabilities as d3.js and is no longer being
developed, but could be a good option if IE support is a necessity as
it can do some of the same things as d3.js.
Cheers,
Andrew
