FYI

On Feb 10 and 11, 2012, I presented Open Cobalt in the fifht edition of the Campus Party Sao Paolo, Brazil, 2012 event, Open-Source chapter, and used the enclosed slide deck (PDF).

From the questions I gathered from the audience, mostry graduate students and developers, I remember:

- Kinect support
- Microsoft Sharepoint integration

Hi all,

I'm using Open Cobalt in Ubuntu for a while, but since Ubuntu has
adopted Pulse Audio I'm having problems with the audio stuffs.

I love OC and I love GNU/Linux but issues like mpeg and mp3 playing
makes the OC experience really painful. Carlos Crosetti told me that
many people who use Ubuntu regularly was very frustrated when attempted
to try OC in it.

I supose that there are many people using OC in GNU/Linux in this list,
and probably many of them have the solution of these problems or they
are very interested in solving it.

Please, if you use OC in GNU/Linux I'm very interested to know your
experience about this issues and if you know how to solve this problems.

Thanks in advance,

Best regards,

Francisco

Thanks for making the presentation available. I was going to be a part
of a round table on Saturday afternoon and planned to go to São Paulo
earlier (I live about four hours away) to catch your talk, but since
my event got cancelled I didn't go.

Jecel, thanks for the nore. Do you live in  Brazil? I am from Argentina and I am still interested in attending both Campus Party Mexico 2012 and CPBR6 in Sao Paulo 2013. Apart from Open Cobalt I am presenting Scrum.

Regards, Carlos

Yes, I live about 200km from São Paulo and so would have taken the bus
to CPBR5 if my round table hadn't been cancelled (two people dropped
out). Besides your talk there was an earlier one on Saturday about
using Scratch and Arduino.

The anual "Smalltalks" conference in November is normally held in
Buenos Aires. I haven't been able to attend, yet, but hope to be there
this year.

All, during my talk (see below) I was asked how OC would be used in the schools to materizlize a "virtual classroom" concept. I answered that all elements OC have in place needs a OC user some prior experimentation to assemble the class elements like a multimedia composition. The classroom must have kind of "lab" infrastructure, like PCs with 1gb RAM, 2ghz cpu, graphics board, LAN, Internet access.

Certanily ther are a few things that look disjoint:

- floating images (ither loade via drag an drom or the Add.. menu) must keep the original spatial position when the stored space i reloaded
- annotations must be persistent
- web pages referenced as an URL must refresh when the stored space is reloaded
- on or more slideshows must also persist (embeded into the space or as reference to folders with imges)
- the slideshow needs clikcable navigation buttons (start, end , next, prev)

Thoughts?

Carlos
