Prospective High School Volunteer

Hello, 

I’m a senior at Irvington High School in Fremont and I recently got in touch with someone at Civic Hall Labs, expressing my interest in both civic engagement and computer science / development and was redirected to the California Civic Lab, and now Open Disclosure California.

As a member of the school speech and debate club for over 5 years and as a self-taught and practicing javaScript developer for the past 3 years I have been looking for an opportunity to apply my skills in an area that I am very passionate about. I first came across campaign finance data displays while doing some research on Open Disclosure Oakland and was instantly curious.

Please let me know who I should contact to see if I can get involved in OpenCalifornia projects, and where I could maximize my contribution and learning at the same time 😊

The Oakland contingent meets every Tuesday night at 6:30pm in Oakland's City Hall. I can send more details if this sounds up your alley.

I also wanted to point out that you aren't required to attend the
brigade meetings in person to collaborate. I'm in San Francisco and
mostly participate remotely. First, you should join our slack[1] where
all the conversation is happening.
