Phew - what an amazing weekend we had at the hackfest in Sydney a
fortnight ago! Well, we're not stopping now - in a couple of weeks
from now, on *Friday the 27 of November*, the Sydney Linux User Group
(SLUG)[0] is having its monthly meetup and they've graciously accepted
our submission for a Birds of a Feather[1] session for OpenAustralia.
SLUG is a community of not just Linux, but Free Software users,
advocates and developers. The community is very diverse and welcoming
and each month they hold a meet up to discuss Linux, Free Software,
open standards and technology in general. SLUG currently hold their
monthly meetings at Google's Sydney[2] office.
The SLUG meeting[3] is split into two with a general talk first then
participants have a choice of an in-depth talk or SLUGlets. We'll be
running in parallel to the in-depth talk/SLUGlets and I'm open to
suggestions of what people would like to cover. If you have a
[lighning]talk you'd like to give or have ideas for things we should
discuss or talks you'd like to hear, please send them through as we've
not finalised the format or schedule.
The official SLUG announcement has not gone out yet so consider this a
sneak-peek of what's to come. I'll forward on the official
announcement with details of how to RSVP as soon as it comes out. In
the mean time, send through those ideas and consider signing up to the
SLUG mailing lists[4] if you're in Sydney and you're a Freedom lover.
Cheers,
Henare
