No. It would be great to do that. The question is how to message it. There is an important difference between "OWF Presents OAuth" and "OWF Recommends OAuth". The first is a valuable resource; the second is politically complicated (not bad, just more work).

Maybe the roadshow is a virtual set fo videos - each advocating teh open
standards that he or she advocates.
I imagine that:
- David Recordon, Dave Morin and that Zuckerberg guy - out out their own
video - advocating how Facebook and Open Standards can.....
- Allen Tom, Eran and the Yahoosters would tied open standards into their Y!

Can't we use what has already been written for the OWF and include any
technology that qualifies as being "open, non-proprietary
specifications for web technologies ... created in the open by a
diversity of contributors, and which free to be used and improved upon
without restriction"?
Just like the Creative Commons creates videos that promote the general

Its not an obvious question at all.
Are we proposing to advocate a specific set of technologies? If so,
which ones? Who decides?
Does attaching the label "OWF" to the presentation make it more
effective? Aren't people doing this advocacy already?
I'm asking these questions as a way to focus the discussion - because

At the risk of asking an obvious question, I'm curious what people think
this group should be advocating? Is it a stack of technologies, specific
standards, specification development methodologies, implementations,
licensing terms, etc.?

Monica, it's interesting that you mention this. Considering both OSCon and
OSBridge conferences will be happening in Portland this year, we can use the
potential for groups gathering as a springboard for this.
I help to produce almost every live-streamed tech event we we host in PDX
including Ignite Portland, barcamp, Wordcamp, Cyborgcamp, etc.

Yes !
I think videos are a great way to spread the word in addition to live
shows (which of course can be taped and shared)
What do you guys think about taping these videos at conferences we all
go to like IIW and the new ones
I also like [link] so we could use them as
distribution channel if the are interested

I second everything James wrote and then some. I've given
presentations at camps about 'doing open source right' where most of
my time is spent trying to dispel the myth of open source as cost
saving and get organizations to recognize it as 'cost shifting'.

As a non-silicon valley resident (and non-employee of "major player")
- I agree that there is a *lot* of great work that the OWF can do to
help raise awareness of the great work being done towards an Open Web.
I've had some modest success - as Kaliya suggests - with simple
analogies in talks at various barcamp / wordcamp and drupal events

What's the gameplan for OWF from now until some random group of spec
authors can easily take advantage of OWF to help them get work done?
What is it exactly OWF will be offering (consensus, not tentative
