I'm not sure why anyone would have told you that you need a domain
controller. Perhaps if you were trying to test some of the "Team"
features you would need that.
But for running Visual Studio 2005 as a single user, there is no need
for a domain or domain controller.

Hi, I am new to .net and its platform, and I need some advice from you
gurus out there. I am trying out VS2005 pro 180days trial from
Microsoft.
I was told that to run VS2005, there should be a domain controller? why
is that so?
is it necessary for me to have a domain controller? I am a home user
and does not sound logical to set up a domain controller at home.
