Here’s a nice idea: a Q&A site on all matters open data that can be voted like StackOverflow:

It looks like they need more questions with 10 or more votes to make it a thing, so if you think this is a good idea, go ahead and upvote some questions.

Cheers.

That's great, I just committed to participate.

That's more related to transportation itself, but I'm sure it would interest a lot of people on this list.

Here's another approach we've been considering since ODX.
The same folks behind StackExchange have released the forum software Discourse - demo here.
We could start a dedicated forum on a range of Open Data topics, and it would have all the great
community features included that software. It can also be multi-lingual, which might not be true
on Stack Exchange.  My company Trudat is ready to host this forum and maintain the software.

While StackExchange is amazingly useful, all posts must strictly follow a question & answer format.
The following post types are not allowed:
  "can you suggest how to..."
"which is better, X or Y..."
   general discussion, and opinions.

Ted: did you get any interest on your Discourse idea?

This is a great news, looking forward to follow the questions there.

Roberto, I haven't circulated the Discourse idea much, but my plan is to put up
a demo site soon and invite people to try it out. If there's traction, then we'll
keep it going. My experience with the Discourse forum software so far is that
it is ideal for longer discussions, which are not handled well by listservs.

Hi Roberto and all,
I managed to get the forum up and running.
You can try it out at odx.io
This forum is meant for situations where longer discussions are needed.
Please register and try posting a few topics.
