There were two Irish events organised for this last year - one by us as part of our Apps4Fingal competition and Distillr also organised an event.
I think this is a great opportunity for us as a community to organise Irish events for International Open Day. Perhaps we can discuss this at next weeks meetup on Thursday 22nd November and start some initial planning.
Regards,
Dominic.

We've already had some suggestions posted on this forum for projects which could be worked on during the hackathon. These have been added to the Wiki at http://wiki.opendataday.org/Dublin2013
If you have a project you'd like to propose, why not add it here or to the Wiki.
Regards,
Dominic.

just to let you know that final preparations are underway for a great day of civic hacking at Dublin’s Civic Offices, Wood Quay, this Saturday, February 23rd from (10:00-17:00).
We have a great choice of projects to work on http://wiki.opendataday.org/Dublin2013#Projects but please, keep ideas coming! Please also see the above link for further details on the format of this event.
I am also pleased to let you know that we expect to have some prominent health policy and data experts from the HSE and HIQA in attendance to guide us through the ins and outs of the Irish Healthcare sector. And we’ll have former NHS Hack Day <http://www.nhshackday.com> participants coming in from Belfast to share their experience.

It looks like a brilliant day and great that you've got HSE and HIQA on board too. I'm sorry I've been off the radar a little of late but will its been that kind of month!
Best of luck on Saturday and will try to pop in at some stage if I can get into town.

Thank you. I am pleased to report that there is noticeable increase in interest re open data in the air. If we keep the ball rolling, 'change in culture' / better days for open data in Ireland to come.

It has been suggested that we should aim to have a hackathon every 3 month. What do you think? (TBD at ODI #4<https://tito.io/open-data-ireland/meetup-4>next Thurs, March 7th)

I was checking out the twitter stream - it looks like it was a great day.
Also, saddo that I am... I was reading the Action Plan for Jobs over the weekend... good to see that Open Data finally got a mention as a 'disruptive initiative' that they are going to support. In gov speak, "we may be turning a corner" :)

Hi all,
Thanks again to those who found time to participate in Dublin Hackathon 2013.
I believe it was a great example that the sky's the limit for creativity of driven by pure passion (and fueled by pizza) civic enthusiasts!
It would be great if we could bring the project to presentable state, update the wiki and list our projects at 'Where is the results of whole the world'.
It has been suggested that we should aim to have a hackathon every 3 month. What do you think? (TBD at ODI #4 next Thurs, March 7th)
For those who missed #odhd13 --- there is always #odhd14!
I hope to see you there.
Best,
Denis

I think we should try organize them as quarterly affairs. We've a lot of development talent in the room and it would be a shame to waste it all on earning a living.
