Creative Commons Media Release?
|
| |
Hello, Does anyone have experience with media releases that also incorporate Creative Commons licensing? The Human Subjects Review board here at UC Berkeley says that archaeological photography and video recording both lay outside of the purview of the IRB, but that getting a media release would be "the nice thing to do." Following the template of the media release... more »

Shuttering Mana'o
|
| |
Hello all, I'm back from two months in Papua New Guinea, and just now getting settled back in as the semester starts etc. I know there was a flurry of emails over the summer while I was away on this list which I am still trying to dredge out of my mailbox. However I wanted to drop a line with the sad news that I am shuttering the Mana'o repository.... more »

Scribd: EduPunk repository?
|
| |
EduPunk, as I understand it, refers to scholars who, frustrated by the
inferior tools offered by their universities, have embraced free
online (i.e. "web 2.0") social tools as a substitute. I'm planning on

AAA Meeting Abstracts open access
|

Hi folks,

making such a resource available online.... more »

As a follower of Steven Harnad, I think it is more feasible to steer
anthropology and the AAA first toward Green OA (self-archiving), with
less emphasis on Gold OA (OA journals). Both are important, but Harnad
argues that Green OA has much greater potential for making a
difference in access in a reasonable time frame.... more »

Organizing (was: Reinvigorating the OAA movement)
|
| |
There are several services which help anthropologists congregate. For
instance, some of us have been using other WeFollow keywords, there
was a rather useful compendium of anthro-related blogs at the end of
last year, and there are anthropology-related groups, such as this
"twibe": [link]... more »

Reinvigorating the OAA movement
|
| |
Hi folks,
First some history: Back in 2005-2006 a few of us tried to make a call
to arms to push the AAA to adopt Open Access. Instead, the AAA went
the other way and openly opposed legislation that would mandate OA for
publicly funded research. At the 2006 AAA a bunch of us, including
some people from within the AAA, met and discussed the issue at the... more »
