Hello Dallas!  Take time to journey with the Mayor of Greenville Avenue down our beloved Avenue.  It's finally here!  It's the greatest weekend of the year, as Greenville Avenue is awash in Green!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!

********************************************************************

FROM THE MAYOR'S OFFICE:

As most people know by now, all of Dallas will be crazy as St. Patrick's Weekend begins with huge events this Saturday!  This newsletter will especially detail the two events that have grown into legendary status!  It's the Greenville Avenue St. Patrick's Day Parade and the Lower Greenville Block Party on Saturday!  These are the days that you might spot me becoming very emotional, because these are the two events that I live and die for each year on that most beloved of all Avenues!  Both of the following events are Mayor of Greenville Avenue's Highlight events of the year!

FOR SATURDAY 3/15/08 – ST. PATRICK'S PARADE – UPPER GREENVILLE – 11 AM

ON THE AVENUE - 29th Annual Greenville Ave St. Patrick's Day Parade - 11 A.M.  Location: Parade begins at Park Lane and ends up on Yale.  Event Activities:  This year there are a record breaking 125 floats entered!  The event is FREE and parking is available all along Greenville Ave. at the various business parking lots. Bring the whole family!  Over 1500 participants will march down Greenville Avenue in what is sure to be the largest and most celebrated St. Patrick's Day Parade in North Texas history. Celebrity judges will be judging this year's parade entries in categories ranging from Best of the Best to Most Irish Animal.  GAABA officials expect a larger crowd than last year's 70,000 people! The parade was started to not only celebrate the tradition of St. Patrick's Day but to heighten the public's awareness to all the activities and merchants on Greenville Ave.  (The Mayor of Greenville Avenue will make an appearance on my 17th Society float!  We are number 10 position in the parade.  Our float will be have a record breaking over 17,500 green beads and 14,000 St. Patrick's Day stickers for my constituents!  The Hooters float will lead off.  At number 9 position is Chipotle and behind us is the Tie One On Society.  This parade has turned into one of the greatest parades and most fun times there has ever been in Dallas!

From Chris O'Hagan (H.O.F.#125) - As the movement to make St. Patrick's Day an official holiday moves forward, Proposition317.com has been updated! Sign the petition and you can upload your St. Patrick's Day photo! Then explore the site for other new features, like the Top 5 Green States, and Sway a Skeptic to show your friends their elaborate Irish Heritage!  We only have until March 16th if we are to present the petition to Congress, and it's going to take a million strong. Remember to sign the petition and click below to send this email to a friend.  Slainté - http://proposition317.com/ ***********************************************************************
