ANNOUNCEMENT: OMNeT++ 4.1 beta 3 released

Dear users, 

we've just released the third beta of OMNeT++ 4.1. Please report any issues you encounter. We cannot fix a bug that we don't know about. Thank you and have fun with the new release.

Download and try it now.

Bugfixes since beta 2:

Fixed regressions 
The IDE no longer crashes on multi processor windows machines.

git commands are working correctly now on Windows (git merge etc.)
the IDE works correctly on newer GTK systems (no more dead button problems)

New since beta 2:

Brand new statistic recording framework using signals (introduced in beta2)

Updated software bundles. (Eclipse 3.5.2, CDT 6.0.2, git 1.6.5, gcc 4.4, gdb (7.0.1))
Numerous enhancements in the scalar/vector analysis package (scave). SVG export, usability enhancements etc.
Extensive documentation review

Hello Rudolf,

I've been using this release for less than a week by now, but found it much more stable than before, especially on the windows platform.

Now I can back to my windows machine (Windows XP with SP3 an dual core) as a major development platform rather than remotely logging into a Linux box.

Again, I do deeply appreciate all the hard work on this and look forward to the official release of OMNeT++ 4.1!

Hi Rudolf,

I installed the new beta3 and have some problems using it. (Linux,
build from source without problems.)

After starting the IDE using a new and clean workspace, I can not
create new OMnet++ projects. (File->New->Omnet++)

The error message says:
"The selected wizard could not be started. Reason: "Plug-in
org.omnetpp.cdt was unable to load class
org.omnetpp.cdt.wizard.OmnetppCCProjectWizard." Details: org/omnetpp/
common/wizard/TemplateBasedWizard

There is an error message when starting the IDE:
"eclipse.buildId=unknown
java.version=1.6.0_19
java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.
BootLoader constants: OS=linux, ARCH=x86, WS=gtk, NL=de_DE
Command-line arguments: -os linux -ws gtk -arch x86

I'm not sure, but I see that you have installed omnet into /opt

are you sure that the directory and all its subdirectories are accessible  by your user?

An additional tip: just delete the directory: /opt/omnetpp-4.1b3/ide/configuration/org.eclipse.osgi/

There seems to be some locking file missing, but it's an Eclipse issue (at least what I see from the logs)

you can safely delete that directory and eclipse will reinitalize itself.

You are right. Some directories had the wrong user privileges after
compilation of the new version.
