Multiple cognitive radio on a node

Hi
I have to simulate a cognitive network, in which every station has
two interfaces, one for receiving packets and one for sending them.
With the sending interface, I need to sense the spectrum to detect
primary users, and then make some adjustment on a higher level.

And now my question:
- How can I sense the spectrum? Does someone has already wrote the
code for that?
- How can I have multiple radio on a node? I was wondering to write a
module with two "down" gates and one up, connecting it to the MAC and
to two radios. Is that feasible or there are better solutions?

I'm using MiXiM, but since I'm at the beginning I can always switch.
