I have Omnet++ (4.0) and MiXiM running. My question is: what is the
"correct way" of starting a new "project"? For instance, I want to
start with porting the Flooding example from the old Mobility
Framework to MiXiM. At the moment I see the MiXiM as an Omnet++
project in IDE. The following steps can be found for MF but are they
suitable for MiXiM also? Where can I find the template files and where
should I copy them?

From http://mobility-fw.sourceforge.net/manual/node4.html:

<snip>
3.2 Creating an own network

To be able to easily create a new simulation network we provide
template files. They can be found in the template/ directory.
Basically all you have to do is to copy the desired template files
into your network directory and adapt them. The most important advises
and rules are presented as comments in these files.

Hi,

MiXiM does not provide template files as MF did. How to start your work mainly
depends on what you'd like to do.

The first possibility (similar to the template approach in MF) is to create
your own project using the omnet IDE and import the MiXiM library into the
project. (Don't know out of my head now the exact steps of adding the MiXiM
shared library to your project but it shouldn't be too hard to figure this out
;-)

The other possibility is to put your stuff directly into the MiXiM source
tree.

While the first way is probably the "cleaner" clearly separating your stuff
from the MiXiM code, the second way is probably easier to start with (no need
to create a new project etc.) However, both should work

Hope this helps

Daniel
