Hi All,

As the super admin of our Omeka, I created a collection and exhibits for a group of items on behalf of a staff at my institute.  I would like to release the right to this staff at "Contributor" level, so that he can make change and addition.  However, I don't really know if there is way for me to attach this user to an existing collection created under my account.
Would be good if anyone could share your experience with me, if there is way to do so.

Thanks
Sheila

The easiest thing to do is the give that person "Admin" level permissions so that they can edit anything you have created.

Thanks!  I actually thought of that, but this would mean this user can access all other things that do not under his custody.  That's why I would like to see if anyone got better solution.

Hi Sheila,

That's a good issue that comes up in various ways. I'm not sure if this will take care of what you need, but I whipped up a plugin [ https://github.com/patrickmj/ReassignOwnership ] that (I think) lets the owner, admins, or supers reassign the ownership of a collection or an item to someone else. In the edit screen, look for the "Reassign Ownership" panel in the sidebar at the right.

It's basically untested, but if it looks useful for your needs I'll chip away at it as I can. It's for Omeka 2.0, so that might also be a constraint.

Nothing there for exhibits yet -- needs a little more digging around to see if/how to implement that.

Dear Patrick,
So excited to know you are working on a plugin for this.  Unfortunately, I haven't yet updated to v.2.0.  So I would have to work on upgrading the software first before tryiing out your plugin.
Many thanks
Sheila

Ah! I expect it would be useful enough to enough people who haven't upgraded that it might be worth backporting. It's a simple enough plugin that it won't take much time, especially now that the structure is there.

(It might even make a good exercise for anyone wanting to try their hand at their first plugin!)
