Scribd API equvalent of iPaper plugin?

According to the Omeka website, "Omeka plans to update the [iPaper plugin] code to work with Scribd's preferred technology, Scribd API." Any word on when this will be completed? Here in Portsmouth we had hoped to make use of the iPaper plugin or something equivalent to it. Is anyone actively working on the Scribd API plugin?
Our need is to be able to provide access to one or many RTF or PDF documents from an Omeka items page. We had thought we'd use the iPaper plugin for this purpose. If there are better and viable ways to accomplish this task another way, please let us know.
