Since there does not seem to be any applications specifically targeted
for use on mobiles, the chance of using an application all depends on
the capabilities of your phone vs. the resource demands of an
application.
For instance, java applications (omegat, etc.) could run on it, but
most of these devices do not have a full version of java installed
(they use or support a version known as Java ME).
In order to make something like this work could require significant
redesign or removal of features for many applications.
I believe at this point there is very little demand for translation
applications on mobiles because most translators need to work with
extra resources while translating that would make mobile translation
impractical. That is, it is very hard to carry around your
dictionaries and other hard references, as well as justify the cost of
many on-line accesses to terminology banks and so forth, depending
upon the service costs of the mobile device. It is also difficult to
type on those teeny keyboards at any rate of speed, most people could
not be bothered.
On the development side, it is hard for software developers to develop
for such things where there is little demand and they do not have the
resources to begin to make it work properly.
The developers themselves would need to have the mobile devices, at
some point.
So unfortunately, there is a definite barrier to having these kinds of
applications for both the users and developers. Sounds like a nice
idea for those who already have the devices. The critical mass of
adopters is just not there at this time.

Raymond

That's not exactly a MAHT tool. Aside from needing on-line service,
you could just use Google translate or something else if you want
functionality like that.

It's a mobile application for Blackberry, uses large database. It just
connects to server and realize the translation without much memory
necessity available on the phone.
That's nice, but how is any of this relevant to OmegaT+ or related
tools?
It isn't. Perhaps you should be talking about this on some other group
because it is not of that much use to those who use OmegaT+.

Raymond
Hi!
I know that this group is not exactly the right place for this topic,
but I just like to share my experience with its members and to get
more information about it. I

Hi!
I have found the best webpage for smartphone tools including
Blackberry software. The Blackberry translation software requires
minimal memory of the cell phone. Those translations need Internet
connection. There is a server with a huge database with many
languages available. Most of these services are on reasonable prices.
Google Handango.com
Bye
That's all very nice, but is this really related to translation tools for translators
or for the average person. It is not a topic for this group unless it is directly
related to the kinds of tools made by this project or can help with
the development of those tools here. Next topic...
Oh yeah, we are also not interested in non-free tools, unless we can develop
similar functionality and need some examples. Let's move forward.
Thanks for your understanding.
Cheers.
