This is the list of reasonable demands that the York Region Parent Coalition is making to the School Board about invoking the consultative process with duly elected trustees, measuring/monitoring of RF in classrooms on a regular basis, disclosure of information about RF levels in classrooms to parent/community stakeholders, acceptance of liability for present/future harm to students/staff by the School Board and the Ministry of Education and for the use of wired connections to the internet until Wifi is proven safe.

The parents are hoping that their protest will attract the attention of other parent groups nationwide/worldwide and serve to inform other parents to follow suite.

Our parent protest and Wifi-Free Wednesday in (York Region, Ontario Canada) is meant as a media event to raise the awareness of parents and teachers throughout Canada about wifi radiation levels in classrooms and to promote global solidarity with concerned parents and teachers throughout the world.�

Historically, parents have not been actively involved in the running of the schools and school boards have taken advantage of this blind trust. Technology plans for the installation of Wifi has happened undemocratically behind the closed doors of board rooms throughout Canada without consultation with the public.� Duly elected trustees have not consulted with parents about what parents want and they should have as the issue of Wifi in classrooms was NEVER part of any trustee platform for election.� This is NOT democracy in action. School boards do not have the legal right to dictate to parents what is safe and is not safe for their children.� Trustees have not listened to the concerns of parents and in fact, trustees have demonstrated bias toward the school boards� technology development agendas rather than listening to the concerns of the community constituents.� This is absolutely undemocratic and trustees are in dereliction of their public duties. We are calling for the elected trustees to immediately develop an open forum with parents and community stakeholders including teachers in all school districts to listen, unencumbered to their concerns about wifi radiation or to resign.

As parents we ask:� Why have school boards secretly installed routers behind ceiling tiles and purposely hidden them from view? Why have school boards refused to label the router locations and to inform parents and teachers where they are so that people can avoid direct irradiation?� We are calling for the immediate disclosure and labeling of router locations.

As parents we ask: Why are radiation levels in classrooms not being measured, monitored and reported in a clear transparent way to the parents, teachers and to the public?� School boards do not even own electrosmog detectors to ensure that the RF levels in classrooms do not exceed safety levels on a daily basis.� In some schools radiation levels have exceeded safety levels when measured.� We are calling for the immediate purchase of electrosmog detectors for all school sites to measure and monitor the Radio Frequency radiation in all Ontario classrooms with a committee comprised of a member of the Parent�s Council, a member of the teaching staff and a member of the Board with �reporting in a clear, transparent and consistent manner to all community stakeholders on a regular basis.�

As parents we ask:� Will School Boards and the Ministry of Education be willing to accept the liability for any present or future harm to students and staff from Wifi?� We are informing school boards now that there will be a legal class action suit initiated for parents, children, teachers and school support staff who will be invited to register their health concerns both present and future.� We do have a legal firm in mind, but we would invite law firms who are interested in representing this issue to contact us.� Women�s College Hospital in Toronto already acknowledges Electro Hyper Sensitivity as an environmental disability. This will become a major health liability if school boards are not proactive in the removal of wifi from the classrooms. School boards will most certainly be held accountable as they have already been informed of our health concerns and the research that supports it.

And as such, since Wifi has never been proven safe, in schools and in the classroom, we are calling for wired connections only to the internet instead of wireless ones.
