Hi folks!

Well, it's official in all directions - Omaha Maker Group is the proud new tenant of 8410 K Street, and has given notice to the Omar Building.  To facilitate this adventure, we have formed a "Relocation Committee" comprised of:
   Kevin - Ben - Eric - James - Brandon
If any of these guys can offer anything additional, they will reply to this email.

Through our discussions and review of the calendar, we have developed the following schedule:
02/15 - Last day of personal making at Omar
02/16 - Robotics Expo at SAC (we need a good showing here, please plan to be there!)
02/17 - Packing and purging at Omar
02/19 - Tuesday meeting (packing and purging)
02/23 - Packing and purging at Omar
03/01 - Take possession of K Street (run network cables, remove front partitions, misc prep work)
03/02 - MAKERY MOVING MADNESS!!!!!
03/05 - Continue unpacking and setup at K Street
03/09 - Clean out Omar
03/11 - Last day of occupancy at Omar (turn in all keys and access cards to management)
03/12 - OMG Annual Meeting, at K Street
03/19 - First "official" Tuesday meeting at K Street

As you can see, we have a pretty-tight timeline to get things packed and moved.  But this will get us into our new space as quick as possible.  However, in order to make this happen, we need "all hands on deck"!  Please make every effort to be at the Omar building as often as you can over the next two weeks.  We will be packing, taking down walls, prepping benches for move, and getting all of our tools and equipment ready to go.

We also need boxes, bins, and totes - so if you have anything like that available, please bring them to Omar.

If you have any questions or need to know anything further, just let me know.

Thanks!

I'd echo again Eric's note that we'll be able to use all the help we can get, especially leading up to March 2nd's moving day.

I'd also note that not all of these tasks are mutually exclusive, in that we'll need to remove the partitions at Omar to make paths (and space) to pack and move some of the furniture.

Remember, no special skills are needed to help out. Lots of the work to be done is as simple as carrying trash or mopping the floor. Of course, there's obviously some more complex sorting tasks, but there's more than enough for everyone to do.

I don't know if you guys remember but the speaker was installed in the ceiling via a car jack so you might want to use that again to get it down.

Yes, we are quite aware of it.

We were discussing that yesterday, in fact.  We knew there was a jack involved.  What we weren't able to figure out was how the whole process worked, and how to reverse the steps.  Can anyone walk us through the installation?

It was a joint effort by brandon, knaack, kevin and I. I think I have photos of the installation. Basically brandon or knaack held the speaker up above the wall while some one put the jack on top of the wall and jacked it up to the ceiling. Then the braces were added to support the speaker and lock it in place. The reverse should work just fine.

I assume trucks are not needed tonight, so I'll be working late instead. :)

Yep, no trucks tonight, just more packing and whatnot.

And quadcopters...

Thanks to everyone who turned out last night to help at the Makery;  We've now successfully packed about 85% of the "stuff", and most of that is already on pallets.

This Saturday, February 23rd, we're going to put in a few more hours (starting at 9am) and try to get the last bits packed up, picked up, and ready to go.   If you're available, and want to help for a bit, please stop by.

If you can't make it on Saturday, there'll be plenty of opportunities to help more, once we have access to the new space.

Thanks again,
Kevin
