Subject: [OMG] Raspberry Pi XBMC

So, the makery was brought a Raspberry Pi to play with tonight. And without
a proper hdmi monitor at the makery we got it running thru composite.

But I wanted to see it work properly, so i took it home :)
I got it working with a port of XBMC running to a tv.
Video and Sound work great from the get go, and streaming it over the
network is flawless.
i set it up with this

in case anyone else wants to give it a shot.

$25 model has no ethernet and one USB port instead of two.

Mine just showed up from Newark. $45.11 delivered for the model B. +$7 for
an SD card +$10 for wifi. And a powered USB hub is a good idea.

Hey Everybody,

if any of you have a LINKSYS Router Model
WRT54GS, or GL, that you are not using and would
like to part with it for CHEAP, let me know.
I am going to hack some of them for a ham radio project.

It's a 42" plasma, resolution is around 800x480.

Inputs are component, composite and vga.

We've got a stack of linksys routers at the Makery;  I don't know if any
are that particular vintage (I know some are newer, and some older,
though), but it'd be worth checking there first.

Meeting's Tuesday, you could stop by then...

Tuesday.  We'll talk to you a little about what we're doing.

Another source for them is the Good Bytes (Goodwill) Store at 72nd and F

Is this an attempt to make a spontaneous guerrilla network?  Turn a bunch
of them into repeaters with boosted signals and set up shop in different
trucks at events?  If so, kudos.

If not, I'm still curious. :)

It seems to work pretty good. I have had it drop out a few times but I
think that has to do with the powered hub I have not being the greatest.

you could check the pi wiki

and maybe see what looks good.

Hope to see you tonight.
