Hello all,

Could we brain storm again via emails about the main points to discuss
with walter and try questions and answers that may be asked by him?

Cheers,

1) Ask if we can use the name OLPC-Nepal
2) Tell them why we are interested an why it will work in Nepal
3) Suggest Nepal serve as OLPC's training and support hub for South Asia
4) Ask How we can help OLPC
5) Ask if we can get laptops in quantities smaller than 1 million
6) Ask for 2B1 prototypes!

In case they become concerned about the political situation in Nepal:
This project cannot be blocked by the political situation in Nepal
because:
1.Pilot project group can work anytime by gathering in their small
office, or house
2.Children group for pilot project can be hosted in a house as cost of
living is low therefore no worries even if there are curfews!
3.Can use satelite communication in case need to contact them( Walter
and group for feedback in the US
5....

Cheers,
Sani

great! Kiran!

Question 5 and question 6 where already answered during our meeting on
Sunday at Bryan's when we talked about why Nepal?
Question 7 and 8 will definitely lead to the proposal and workplan
without which we can't define exactly what we need as support! Their
expectation, well most of it will derive from a mutual aggreement of
the final workplan agreed by both parties.

What do you guys think about asking Mr. Walter about media lab. He is the much right person (former director) . shall we ask him if they could arrange support from local UN houses as the project is joint effort from UN too. Or, if they have any influence on international donors and business houses ( i.e. google) to provide us with direct financial or tech. supports..
I feel that we should gather  little earlier  so we could come up with the nice setup and good script for the  conference.
And please use this thread as your attendance sheet for tomorrow meeting(Please post the time you could earliest arrive so we could catch up with nice discussion earlier to conference , probably  before Bryan arrival it could be at Hot Bread with nice sip of coffee ).

Hi Everyone,

I am sorry I haven't been able to join in the
discussion, but I have been a caught up with my
personal+office work quite a bit recently. I won't be
able to come today.

I was talking to a friend (Roshendra Khadka) in
Helpnepal network, who are interested in piloting
computers in rural schools, and I thought that in the
future, it might be good if we can pilot the laptop
software on their setups. Their most recent
development in this area is that some students from
Pulchok are interested in setting up Linux Terminal
Server Project (ltsp) in a school that they will be
providing computers to. These students plan to use
Fedora core, but might use Nepalinux as well. Nothing
has been finalized yet, but I might be attending a
meeting with them next week to find out more.

If you think inviting Roshendra to one of our meetings
will be helpful, I will bring him over (not today of
course).

Regards,
Prajjwal
