1100 times, eh? For shame!
Yes, the Bible does say that (John 3:16), but the National Enquirer says that
Elvis is alive and well and living in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Why should I believe
the Bible over the National Enquirer?
Yes, Christianity says that we are born into sin (BORN into it!) and only Jesus
can save us from it. What a terrible message to give to Jews, Hindus, Buddhists,
etc.

Reminds me of a story that an attorney friend of mine told me about
encountering a relgious nut at DFW airport. As my friend was making
his way to his flight, the nut accosted him and asked: "Brother, have
you seen the Lord?" My friend replied: "Yeah, he's at gate 28, now

What's the "Westheimer Curve"? I've never heard that term. Is that
where Westheimer takes that small jog to enter the Montrose area from
the west, or is it where it turns southbound east of Montrose? I know
that area well, as we always hit the Magic Cauldron on Westheimer just
east of Montrose when we're there. I also love the leather-boy mural
on the bar across from Hollywood Video at Westheimer and Montrose.
I've always wanted to photograph it and send it out as a postcard to
my homophobic friends.
We always stay inside the loop (usually at one of the hotels near
Greenway Plaza) when we're down there, and Westheimer, Richmond, and
Alabama between Montrose and the Galleria, as well as West U., are our
normal stomping grounds. My fiance always has to hit a Randall's
Flagship for cheap Sushi (and occasionally Miyako on Kirby if we have
the cash), and we haunt many of the bookstores in the area. Even
though it's part of a chain, I really like the Alabama Book Stop
that's in the old movie theater.

And just what makes you so sure that Jesus is the ONE WAY? So far,
I've seen very little physical proof of any of the folk tales in the
Bible being anything more than that. Just because you believe Jesus
is your savior, which is fine by me, does not negate or supercede the
beliefs of those who do not. Islam is quickly becoming the largest
religion in the world (if it's not already) - what makes them wrong
and you right? I'll tell you what - your belief. Hell, I can believe
the Earth is flat, doesn't make me right. Telling people they're
going to burn in hell because they don't subscribe to YOUR image of
Jesus isn't helping anyone come around to Christianity. For the
record, I am more or less and agnostic with some atheistic tendencies,
so you'll probably think I'm Satan incarnate, anyway - which would be
tough for me to buy as I don't believe in a Satan in the first place,
but that's another arguement. I think Jesus probably did exist, and
whether or not he was the son of God or God in an earthly form, I
don't know. But what I do know is that he had some pretty cool ideas
that the likes of you have perverted over nearly two millenia.

My favorite religious nut story actually happened right in front of
me. My dad was walking with me through Sky Harbor in Phoenix, when a
Moonie approached us. My dad said quietly, "I hate these

father said VERY loudly, "$50 for a BLOWJOB? You have to be kidding!"

The Curve is the five-block stretch of Westheimer that angles west-southwest
from Yoakum out to Mulberry, at which point it turns once more westward.
I don't know what shape the block between Montrose and Yoakum was in last
Saturday night for the Gay Pride parade, because Dale and I never got farther
east than in front of the Wendy's -- which means we didn't get to see the
eight-foot mirrored disco ball hanging over the Westheimer/Montrose
intersection. (It would have been better than the stupid rings hanging over
just about every signaled intersection around the Galleria, the ones that look
like they were ripped off from the set of "Stargate".)
>I've always wanted to photograph it and send it out as a postcard to

You should get a shot of Mary's, at Westheimer and Waughcrest -- it's always
had an attention-getting paint job of one sort or another since I was
commuting to college through there back in the 1970s. (I got a chuckle out of
one of the summer regulars painted on the mirrored front: "Air Conditioning
-- it's 69 (degree sign) Inside!".)

It is clear that you are nothing but a "false witness." I suggest you
re-read the Bible because Paul clearly states that those who repeatedly bear
false witness, as you appear to do, will not go to heaven. Before you set
yourself up to judge others, you better get your own spiritual life in order
or you'll be sharing hell with the rest of us.

Excuse me, but when did the "Founding Fathers" cease to be men? And
as for their views on the separation of Church and State, I suggest
you do some reading from the writings of James Madison, for starters.
Also, if you think that the "founding fathers" would have been
perfectly okay with a government-mandated religion, why did they not
set one up in the Constitution?

Lying again, I see. I no more worship Satan than you are a REAL Christian.
You may think you're fooling us by claiming to be a Christian, but Jesus
sees the hate in your heart. Re-read Paul and see what he has to say about
people who repeatedly bear false witness as you do -- he lumps them with
adulterers, murderers, and the lowest scum of humanity. Paul also says that
those who repeatedly bear false witness as you appear to do will not go to
heaven unless they change their ways. I strongly suggest you do some soul
searching about yourself and your so-called "Christian" behavior before you
try to judge others. You're soul is in grave danger.
Well, I dont want to start a flame war here, and I am not taking sides at

Also, some people consider worshipping anything other than God (ie., buhdda) to

And as far as paranoid is concerned....if Michael was approached by some drunk

You are so terrified of whatever is not taught in your Bible that you call such
things satan worshiping. Its because you do not have an argument, you do not
have any proof. All you can do is hope people retreat because of a knee jerk
reaction to the word satan. Don't get me wrong, I fully support your right to
go to church and worship the way you please. However, I know you wouldn't do
the same for me. Your post has nothing at all to do with this newsgroup.

Actually, the Pilgrims came here so they would be free to be
religious zealots. The Pilgrims, actually followers of the so-called
Puritan religion, were far more extreme in their views than most of
the mainstream religions in Europe at the time. I would suspect that
someone like Valerie would feel right at home in the Massachusetts Bay
Colony of the 1600's, which permitted the death penalty for those
accused of "witchcraft" - and pretty much anyone else who wasn't
towing their line. The damn Pilgrims and the Massachusetts Bay Colony
are a perfect example of why we don't need another theocracy.

Good for you -- now, here's the part you can't seem to understand: you also

you don't get to camp out on my front doorstep bellowing verses from your Holy

Actually the reason you are pissing of most of the people here is
because of
your own ignorance. You continue to spew...errr...preach to those who
have
no desire to be preached to and who are completely satsified with the

Try looking through those trees for that forest there, Valerie. It
is the very notion of separation of church and state that gives you
the freedom to worship as you choose. What religious nuts like you
always fail to acknowledge is that the separation ideal works both
ways - just as one religion cannot force itself to be mandated by the
government, the government cannot interfere with religion. Church and
state must be separate in order for you to have freedom of religion.
Once the government begins to step in and say which religions can be
practiced and which cannot - then not only has the separation been
breached, but the very idea of having the freedom to worship is in
jeopardy. While I'm sure you have no problems with Rep. Bob Barr's
move to ban the practice of Wicca for military bases, many religious
leaders do. They see it as a breach of that wall and they know that
once the precedent has been set by the government that they can decide
what is and is not an acceptable religion, it's just a matter of time
before ANY religion may face the same scrutiny.
While you say that YOU aren't calling for a government-mandated
religion, I'm sure it would be fine with you if everyone was in
lock-step behind your religion - that has been clear by the tone of
your posts from the beginning. Let me ask you these questions - are
you in favor of the proposal to place the ten commandments in schools?
Are you in favor of a government-approved prayer in schools? If the
answer to either of these is yes, then you DO support the government
mandating religion.

Again, that's what you believe. There is no proof that anything in
the Bible is true other than one believing it is so. You got people
running around claiming they saw Elvis at Burger King last week, and
they're totally convinced that what they saw is true. What makes them
any more or less crazy than you? You believe that Jesus died for you,
which is fine. But there are many of us who think otherwise. Why is
it so difficult for people like you to accept that fact and let others
be? Why do you have to insult them by labelling them Satanists or
saying that the religions of others aren't legitimate?

The Church of the SubGenius could save your sanity.
The Church can't cut your strings--you wouldn't want us to, if you
knew what they can mean for you-- but we can show you where the stings
are attached and how to 'sync up' with the Puppetteer...how to stay
one jump ahead of the other puppets by assisting the Puppet Master: by
following the Path Of Least Resistance.
Remember, Jehovah1--or Wotan, or Shiva or whatever you want to call
HIm--is not God. He might as well be, as far as we're concerned,
because he has powers of creation and destruction that Man had
mistakenly associated with God throughout history. He is merely a bit
player in this vast Movie which God is apparantly leaving unedited.
Neverthless, His galactic goals--it makes no difference what they
are--can be achieved sooner if He hones a few special tools to aid in
the task. As the trance dictation of Dobbs tells us, SubGeniuses are
those tools and Jehova 1 needs our help.
In return we Chosen are rewarded with Slack as He tips the scales of
cause and effect in our favor. Indeed, WOTAN1 can cheat your Karma for
you, much like a tax expert greases your way throught IRS. You can
beat the sysstem if you have the right connections. The space god can
literally make coincidents and accidents happen to favor YOU. This
what this means in the areas of love, sex, finances, and social
standing. It isn't WHAT you know, it's WHO you know. "Luck" simply
means being in the right place at the right time. If you pay Him
enough lip service, JHVH-1 cna 'fix it' so that you will constantly
find yourself stumbling into that right place at just that right time.
This "deal" is called The Covenant."
Book of The SubGenius, Chapter 1
"You may have heard the term "SubGenius" sometime before, buy you
might not be able to quite put your finger on it--almost as if it were
some dim racial memory, some archetype from Neandertal times. That may
very well be the case.
Now, the Church was not founded until 1953. And it was 1979 before
Dobbs created The SubGenius Foundation as a vehicle to bring the
teachings to the public. But SubGeniuses have always existed...even
before Dobbs. In all the cradles of civilization--Subermia, Egypt,
Atlantis--clues have been found which prove the existence of the
Conspiracy and of the SubGenmii who fought to subdue it.
The wisdom of those ancient SubGeniuses was never lost. Carried down
by secret oral traditions, it lies latent in many living people,
waiting only to be triggered by the Abnormality Revolution. Perhaps,
even as you read this, you can feel those ancestral powers and arcane
memories surging up from within your dankest brain gutters.
Ask yourself--don't you feel different at this exact moment than you
ever did before? Isn't it because you feel some vague but momentous
force emanating from this very piece of paper?
You didn't just wander into a bookstore and happend to notice this
Book. You were led to us, and we to you, by powers much greater than
Man and yet, seemingly more random than Fate. But the ways of the
great Manipulator in Space, Jevhovah-1 only appear random. Yes,! Our
pather crossed because it was PLANNED--plotted out aeons ago by alien
minds more bizzare than your wildest nightmares, as part of a
"WorkNet:" a cosmic scheme woven into such a complex web that not just
human history but the fabric of cause and and effect themselves was
disrupted. FACE IT-- the very fact of your eyes moving across this
page at this moment is inevitably and subatomically decreed. You are
locked into the machinations of a cosmic puppeteer who works your
strings so skillfully you never knew they were there.

This universe has been here for billions of years and probably will be

Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.
George Carlin
We may attack your beliefs. But only those who believe blindly,
greedily or half-heartedly will be bothered by our brand of mockery.
To question their beliefs threatens them; it makes a secret part of
them ashamed, and they get riled up and start smiting.
Of course, SHEER STUPID HATE isn't the only things that keeps people
away from the SubGenius Church. You may simply have more important
things to spend your time and money on--things like albums, going to
the movies, a new tape deck for your car--things you'd much rather
possess than, oh, say, life after death, reincarnality, psychic
powers, immortality, invisibility, nirvana, communication with Higher
Intelligences, SLACK, and so on. If those things are meaningless to
you, by all means, just give this Book to someone else. We're sorry
you even bothered.
You see, we're not trying to sell this to EVERYBODY. There are many we
don't want, and there are plenty we can't save because it's too late.
Hard-sell recruitment for this Church is too much trouble to bother
with, because by definition tru SubGenii are not "Joiners." They're
rightfully suspicious of herds. They don't want to be "members' of any
organization. It's a miracle that we've gotten even THIS far. Between
the cult's tendency towards secrecy and the one Law that the laws
change from minute to minute, it's not surprisng that there's no
man-on-the-street-soliciting and prosyletizing. Even our biggest
revivals are spur-of-the-moment, bacchanalian brawl-party affairs. The
telephone is used far more than the altar.
The Bible says that Christians are known by their actions. Your actions
here are hardly Christian-like -- unless your church believes that
repeatedly bearing false witness is Christian-like. You set a very poor
example of Christian-like behavior -- why should anyone want to follow your
example? You're young so maybe as you gain wisdom, you'll see how prideful
and hateful you appear to others.
Sounds Crazy? You bet! The early Christians sounded SO crazy to the
Romans that they were used as lion fodder. Modern day Christians seem
to have forgotten that; plenty of them would like to see US thrown to
the bulldozers. Oh, sure, we blaspheme like crazyagainst the gods. But
that's exactly WHY this is the first religious text in history that
doesn't take "the Lord's name" in VAIN. For once, there's a REASON.
GOD HIMSELF CUSSES!! He's MAD! He's being falsely represented on
Earth! Jehovah-1's pretentions would be bad enough, but now all these
human preachers have gotten into the act, doling out notions of
"right" and "wrong" as if their peabrains could even BEGIN to sort
such things out. They've cornered the market and set things up so that
enligtenment in Their churches consists of four basic stages, each
more tortuous than the last, and when some poor devil finally does
ghet Illuminated he just reenters the world and goes back to basically
normal behavior.
SubGeniuses are BORN enlightened and so may remain in the world,
"acting norma" (it's all relative). They already KNOW the Big Secret
of most Mystery School: that "divine ecstacy" is arrived at just as
easily with a backrub, or a good screw, as it is through 20 years of
ascetic self-flogging in a cave--at least, AS LONG AS THERE IS SLACK.
By now, the average False Christian reader will assume that this whole
church is the Devil's work. But we're much too unpopular for the
Devil. He's strictly big time and doesn't mess wiht marked underdogs
like us. He uses those already in seats of power. The power of the
SubGenius is that WE DON'T NEED POWER. We don't even need brains. We
have "Bob," we have a Deal with JHVH-1, we have our own capacity to
blunder creatively. We're too disorganized for the Devil. If he's
anywhere, he's where you least expect him.
It means NOTHING! It's utterly ambiguous. All-purpose. It sure as hell
doesn't mean "just below genius level." To "Bob" and his mighty
friends in The Council of None, one happy idiot is worth far more than
ten A-bomb-inventing-geniuses. We throw most so-called geniuses OUT.
They're too nervous, they take themselves too seriously, they're
SNIDE. They do not truly know Slack.
Praise "Bob," there are as many idiot SubGenii as "smart" ones. Most
prevalent, however, are smart-asses. It isn't brains, but an
intuitive, anti-Pink, anti-cute ATTITUDE MUTATION. The Conspiracy has
proved that you can have high intelligence but still not be able to
THINK.
No, yes, SubGeniuses are merely The Chosen People-- the class which
cannot be classified, those who are different not only from others,
but from each other. If any two are the same, ONE MUST GO! We band
together only for strength, and only temporarily. The Conspriacy used
to KILL peopel who displayed SubGenius traits. Thanks to the countless
martyred evo-and devolution cults that pave d the way, nowadays you're
merely penalized FINANCIALLY, SOCIALLY, and SEXUALLY, for weirdness.
But at least we can come out and admit that there ARE people mutating
ahead, and they are US; and, because mutation is so unpredictable,
there will inevitably be unguessed other steps BEYOND SubGenius...but
only if we fulfill our genetic DESTINY.
Ultimately, it isn't Smart vs. Stupid or Cool vs. Uncool, but THE GOOD
GUYS vs. THE BAD GUYS. The free men against the robber barons.
Frankenstein's monster against the Villagers. Of course it's OUR
definition of "Good Guys," so if we aren't careful we'll end up as a
bunch of Hitlers instead of Robin Hoods.

Who knows. There should be a charter around somewhere. Hey, Jerry?
You seen the charter around?? In any case, I'm always amused by folks
that claim that certain posts here are "off topic".
Being a Christian myself (and yet feeling no need to preach to those who don't
want to hear it - my words and actions tend to speak for me) I have a feeling
that our local Jesus Freak is rather new in her belief. Not that I condone her
relentless fanaticism, but perhaps I will cut her some slack and tell her, as a
"brother" that sometimes what you say in attempting to promote Jesus does
nothing but turn people off all the more. So, a word of advice: Let it go. The
people in this group obviously don't want to hear it. Don't force it. You will
only defeat your purpose.
And now back to Lurkerville.
Not only that, but every post in which she attempts to shove her
religion down our collective throats will result in my posting a
followup from the BOSG, thus assuring her that her obnoxious behavior
will only end up promoting a "satanic" group, the CoSG.

I didn't know that Quentin started ok.general. You learn something

So, Quentin was the Creator. He spoke and gave us life. Before
Quentin, the was no ok.general. All hail the Creator! He who cast
out his net upon the great dark waters of the 'Net and pulled us from
the morass and spake to us and said "Go forth and post. But post ye
only on topic to ok.general. For mine is the Word and the Light. I
am the creator of this newsgroup and give it to you freely. Use it
wisely and in good health. Defend it from the heathens who would
bring SPAM and trolls to it. For this is my gift to you."

That's the really neat thing about being open minded and willing to
listen, that's how we learn. Of course there's also those such a the
person that originated this thread that are so closed minded they will
probably never learn, but then that's usenet. ;-)

Inspiring isn't it?
What's really strange is that ok.tulsa.general was "birthed" before
ok.general, at least according to the "birthing announcements".
Also, when Josh "birthed" ok.tulsa.general he didn't mention a
charter. When Quentin did the "booster" he clarified the situation by
stating there is no charter. Good housekeeping and all that. ;-)

Yes it is.
Now where you wanna' bury that parchment containing the charter. My
back yards full of buried spammers, so we can't do it here. ;-)

Rumor has it that Carl, while attempting to dry his hair, suffered
severe injuries as a result of forgetting to remove his tinfoil hat
prior to sticking his head into his microwave.
Those injuries, compounded by the cuts and abrasions resulting from
shoving his head through the glass door of the microwave, are
according to these same rumors hampering Carl's efforts at spreading
his version of "THE WORD".
Of course these are all rumors and as such have no more credibility
than anything Carl might post.

Yes. In May of this year, a federal district judge ruled that a
Westchester County (New York) school district had violated its students'
First Amendment right to religious freedom by having third graders make
likenesses of a Hindu god (Ganesha, the one with an elephant head) and
reciting New Age prayers at a high school Earth Day celebration. The
Constitutional provision that protects Christian children from being
forced to make graven images also protects Hindu children from over-
zealous Christians. <g> Sounds like the Golden Rule in action.
"[When] the [Virginia] bill for establishing religious freedom ... was
finally passed, ... a singular proposition proved that its protection of
opinion was meant to be universal. Where the preamble declares that
coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our
religion, an amendment was proposed, by inserting the word "Jesus
Christ," so that it should read "a departure from the plan of Jesus
Christ, the holy author of our religion." The insertion was rejected by
a great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend within the
mantle of its protection the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and
Mahometan, the Hindoo and infidel of every denomination." - Thomas
Jefferson, Autobiography, 1821.

Well said. I thought it was ironic of Valerie to make claims we worship
Satan without a speck of evidence to support her claim, yet she denies
bearing false witness even though it's in black and white for all to see.
Valerie appears to be another "liar for Jesus."

I'd like to know what makes Valerie thinks that she has the right to ask the
question in the first place. I certainly don't feel the need to share my
personal beliefs with a hateful, arrogant like b*tch like Valerie. It's
people like her that give Christianity a bad name.
Good job Michael! The sad thing is I doubt if a mindless sheeple like
Valerie will be able to appreciate the information.
And, I agree with Jerry: you should get the Golden Mallet for
this truly artful whacking!

If only Christians, as a whole, were willing to accept the fact that
everyone has the same right to either practice the religion of their
choice or to refrain from practicing any religion we'd all be much
better off.
Although I'm not familiar with all or even the majority of religions,
I doubt there is any religion as fanatical in its denunciation of all
other religions as are Christians.
It seems that religious tolerance and freedom of religious choice are
not mainstays of Christianity.

Sorry, but it is YOUR BELIEFS that your are trying to get across. You
"believe" that your religious convictions are more valid than those of a
Jew, a Buddhist, a Muslim, a Hindu or any other religious belief.

And the fact that you "believe" IT IS the word of Jesus is proof that you
are arguing belief versus fact. You can no more prove your beliefs are the
only real truth than you can disprove that Thor is not a God.

And guess what -- you're doing a p*ss poor job of it. It is clear that
your ignorance of the Bible is only matched by your arrogance and pride.
Yes pride -- when you think that you and you alone stand between us and
eternal damnation. And remember what the Bible says -- pride goes before
the fall -- and you're well on the way to a big, big fall.
So?? Every religion and every culture has a creation story -- and the
details vary greatly. What proof do you have to back up your claim?

What about islamic martyrs... who die blowing up buses, innocent people,
etc. in Jihads? They worship the same god you do... and see dying as a
martyr as the highest honor in heaven too.
so are they going to your heaven too?

I doubt that Valerie believes that they (or any other Muslims) are going to
Heaven since they don't believe that Jesus is the son of God. If Valerie is
like most other fundies I've come across, there are only going to be a
handful of folks in heaven since Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus won't be
there. And the same goes for gays, adulterers, and anyone who doesn't hold
the same views on creation, literal interpretation of the Bible and any
other views on Christianity that she does.
Personally, I'd like to see Valerie prove that she is a real Christian using
the test in the Mark 16:18
" He who has faith and is given baptism will get salvation; but he who has
not faith will be judged. And these signs will be with those who have faith:
in my name they will send out evil spirits; and they will make use of new
languages; They will take up snakes, and if there is poison in their drink,
it will do them no evil; they will put their hands on those who are ill, and
they will get well."
If Valerie is willing to be tested and survives, then I might be willing to
listen to her.
>I too have lots of materials I have the Holy Word of God.
>
Valerie you are the person that dragged out the "founding fathers", it
was Michael that destroyed your arguments with the very words of the
founding fathers advising against the very actions in which you
engage.
You got whacked big time and you know it.

The Older I get - The better I *WAS*.
ROTFLMAO !!!!!
Maybe Val needs one or is it fourteen of those shots of penicillin.

Carl, is that really you??
When did you get a real computer Carl???
Anyhow, how's the noggin?
>Amen brother!

Heck, this is nothing.
You ought to be around to see the "hog farm thread", "the anti-Winslow
thread", the "TWA Flight 800 thread" or the "Scientology thread" (tm -
El Ron Whosehisface).
Don't flatter yourself Valerie. Until a thread passes 500 posts it
isn't even in the running for consideration of a "thread from hell".
But thanks for playing...

Don't take life too seriously. You'll never get out
of it alive.
Now, now, dear, be nice. She's but a sinner, lost in hypocrisy....

Sister, are you confused? Have you misread the Scriptures? I've
tried to enlighten you, have you no knowledge of the Word?
