After the Civil War, Jason Brown moved out to Seneca, Kansas and
homesteaded a farm near there. I always wondered why he ended up
there. Well if you look at a map, US highway 36 begins a little ways
north and west of Smithfield, Jefferson County, Ohio where he was
postmaster before the Civil War. If you follow US 36 west, it runs
right through Seneca, Kansas. Makes perfect sense. Both my Mom and
Dad are from Seneca, Kansas.
