Sorry to hear of Dick's passing. He was a fine gentleman. One always
learned something when talking with him. So glad he was able to finish
his 49th OVI account.

Richard F. 'Dick' Mann
Richard F. " Dick" Mann, 62, of Fostoria, passed away Monday, November
9, 2009 at the Toledo Hospital.
Richard was born December 5, 1946 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late David
and Helen (Letterhos) Mann. He married Vicki Rader on October 6, 1973
and she preceded him in death July 17, 2009.
Surviving are his son Joshua (Lisa) Mann, Mentor, Ohio, and daughter,
Carrie R. Mann, Columbus; sisters, Karen S. Gill, and Joyce A. Mann,
both of Tiffin; two grandsons, Jonas and Jaymeson Mann.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, James Mann.
Richard graduated in 1965 from Calvert High School and retired from
Autolite with 35 years of service. He also worked at Pizza Palace,
Roppe and currently at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-67 in the 10th Infantry stationed
in the Panama Canal Zone. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 450 and ten
Scouts earned the Eagle Scout rank during his tenure. He also received
the Silver Beaver Award. For more than 40 years Richard was an active
Civil War re-enactor, he wrote a book on the 49th Ohio Volunteer
Infantry and was in the process of having it published.
Richard was a member of American Legion Post #73, life member of
Fostoria Area Historical Society, member of the Seneca County
Genealogy Society, and former K of C # 1197 member. He was past Vice
President of the Redmen Club, Treasurer of Fostoria Jr. Baseball for
ten years, and the Kaubisch Public Library Trustee for seven years
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 12,
2009 at MANN-HARE-HOENING Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St.,
Fostoria
(419-435-6694) where a Christian Wake service will take place
at 3:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial is Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St.
Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where a Rosary will be prayed at
10 a.m. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to the Tim Fox
Memorial Scholarship Fund at Tiffin Calvert School, The Kaubisch
Memorial Public Library, Fostoria, or to St. Wendelin, Fostoria.
