Patton Galloway announces her new book. "I would like to note that I have published a biography of my great-grandfather, Joseph Patton, 93rd Ohio. He enlisted in 1861 as a 16-year-old farmboy and fought until the end of the war, despite being wounded three times, and rose to the rank of Captain. My well-researched and documented book is based in part on his diary and memoir about his Four Years in Dixie, both of which I have.
The book includes a biography of his son-in-law, Colonel Cornelius Gardener, whose 40 years in the army included 20 years fighting in the Plains Wars, Cuba, and the Philippine Insurrection.
The book is entitled Joseph Patton & Cornelius Gardener: Two Men, Three Wars, and is available on Amazon.com and elsewhere."

My great, great uncle served in Co. A 93rd Ohio OVI. His name was John G Weckle and he died Dec. 21 st 1863 from wound that he received during the Battle of Chattanooga.

I would be interested in know where in Ohio that your great great uncle lived prior to the CW--and where Joseph Patton also hailed from. Patton Galloway is indeed lucky to have such wonderful documents that survived these years--clearly family cherished these things.

Lstevens..... I was wondering if you had more information about John G. Weckle? I have had a civil war rifle that my grandfather gave to me several years ago. I have been to research the history of it and found a name scratch into the stock... "Weckle". Looking at the time the rifle would have been issued and history.. I think this rifle might be the one issued to Your great great uncle
