Harmony in Difference

A Panel on Interfaith Dialogue*

November 16, 2005

The Ohio State University

Hagerty Hall 180

5:30pm

With the participation of different religious groups in our community, we
will observe United Nations International Day for Tolerance. How is
tolerance and respect taught by the different religions of the world? Each
of them, in its own way, is founded on love and justice, and cannot be used
to justify violence or war. Dialogue and discussion between representatives
of many religious groups is a tradition that goes back centuries, and is
still valuable today. Four panelists from four different faith groups will
present different perspectives on the substantive meaning of interfaith
dialogue in multicultural society as we live in. The panelists are Tarunjit
S. Butalia of the Sikh faith, Fr. Larry Rice of the Catholic faith, Rabbi
Amy Idit Jacques of the Jewish faith, and Imam Hilmi Okur for Islam. The
panel will be held at the Ohio State University. Food and refreshments will
be served during and after the panel. The panel is sponsored by Thomas More
Newman Catholic Center, Multicultural Center at OSU, Students for Dialogue
at OSU, and the Middle East Studies Center at OSU. To reserve your space and
for more information, please contact us at pan...@sciotocolumbus.org.
