The Oakland Food Policy Council supports using compost made from Oakland’s food scraps and yard trimmings (e.g., the “green cart” program) to grow food in Oakland. Currently, the City of Oakland is embarking on a process to redesign its citywide waste management system, including selecting a company to provide waste management services. We’re interested in exploring how a new waste management services contract could support Oakland’s farms and gardens by providing a source of free or lowcost compost. To help inform this process, we need information about your current compost use!
The Oakland Food Policy Council has partnered with Bay Friendly Gardening to conduct a survey that will help assess the level of demand for finished compost. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/OaklandCompostSurvey
