when i had shingles odsp didnt pay for and it cost me 150.00  my mom called odsp and gave them a piece of her mind and said to them how can my daughter afford that so they told her to phone ow and she did and they paid half of it but i had to pay my mother back because she bought the pills for me and i think its stupid that you have to be 50 years old before they pay for the pills any body can get the shingle at any age

Actually the answer seems to vary.  It is considered a limited use drug, so it depends what it is needed for.  Seems if you are over 50 and have shingles it is covered, but otherwise no matter what the dosage it is not covered.  100 pills 500mg just cost me $40 at Walmart.

In this case, the answer is yes, in 500mg tablets only. Valtrex is the brand name, you will likely get the generic Valacyclovir.

(ODSP does not "cover" drugs - it provides access to OHIP's drug program for seniors.)

I have been taking OXYCOCET, which has been covered. Is this now removed from coverage?

Hi, I dont believe that medication is covered by ODSP. I also just found out that OXY NEO 80 mg. is not covered anymore not even under the exceptional access program, as of feb 28th. the government really making it hard on people cost 127 bucks for 30 which I have to pay now.

Subject: [odspfireside: 49488 ] Urinary Tract Infections?

Hi there,

What are the risk factors to shingles?  What is the age when one is most likely to get them.

I am dealing with urinary tract infections that I getting twice a month.  They are causing me alot of pain and misery.

Does anyone else get these?  I've had them since I was three years old, had a surgery at five and eighteen and they persist.  They are back with a vengeance and I don't want this to go on and on.  I am having an ultrasound this week but twice a month is far too much.  I hope they find out what is causing this though I am a little scared to find out.

They are becoming resistant to antibiotics.

Anyone else?

Pissed off here,

Melanie
