In a word, it was a Thermonuclear Meltdown in the afternoon on Temple / Rancheros out by Cal Poly Pomona.

So we won’t be going out there again until next Fall or Winter time. J

Bruce Campbell– 106 + 5 To/From with Strava Report at http://app.strava.com/activities/53679624 who wrote: “Dennis: Great riding with you today - Loved the 100 degree temps up Chino Hills Pwky a lot cooler than 112 degrees last year. Rod - you had it going up Brea Canyon and Diamond Bar Blvd but you turned right at Grand instead of left and we could not stop you - hope the rest of the ride worked out for you. Chuck - thanks for organizing the ride and the water at the Country Store by Plano Trabuco.”
Ben Duong – 57 Miles who wrote: “I lost sight of the group on Plano Trabuco after staying politely behind a few cars at the last left turn. The group must have been flying through Trabuco Canyon because I never saw them again. I was drained coming out on Jamboree and so headed back. 57 miles.” Ben, we stopped at the Trabuco Oaks General Store … you went flying by and we couldn’t catch you to bring you back.
Andrew May – 75 who wrote: “When I got to the McDonalds it was close to 100 degrees. I didn’t know if I could ride another 30 miles in that so I got a ride back. My total was 75 miles.” And sent me a photo of what his bike looked like when he came out of McD’s:

Andrew ran over a nail which caused him to have a quick rear flat on Kramer.
Dennis Olson – 106 + 2 To/From who wrote: “Great ride today other than the heat, my total was 108.1”
Rod Palomino – 106 + 4 To/From who wrote: “When I finally got to the top of Grand and I realized my mistake, I talked to some cyclists resting in the shade and they pointed me in the right direction to Chino Parkway. I stopped at McDonalds for 5 minutes, then decided I better take off before it gets any hotter. Hope everybody had a good ride. I wanted to get home by 3pm so I could mow the lawn. 110 miles.”
We can say it was some good heat training so it should be relatively cool next Saturday on the Heartbreak Hundred or Heartbreak Double.
