It sure looked like rain when we started the ride Saturday. However, we lucked out and it didn't rain until about 5 p.m. We had great climbing weather on a course that can be brutally hot on the steep climbs.
How in the world did those guys in 1984 climb Vista Del Lago with 14% pieces and La Paz with 9% pieces 12 times? I have no idea but they sure have my respect.
I made it slowly around the 1984 Olympic Road Race Course 5 times which is what the women did back 42 years ago. And my legs are COOKED!! Of course, it doesn't help that I'm 74 years old and have scar tissue from the pneumonia of 2023. However, I'm so grateful to be able to complete a tough ride like this was.
Thank you to everyone who came out and rode some or all of this with me. We were blessed to have excellent climbing weather and didn't get rained on!!
