++  AGENDA FOR THIS WEEK’S MEETING

Our 12 noon luncheon for Wednesday, June 19th 2013, will be held at the Character Inn Conference Center, 520 West Main in downtown OKC. Last week we had some very lively debate on 23 bills submitted by lawmakers for consideration for this year’s Conservative Index. However many of those bills survive the cut from Ron and Steve will be considered this week to make up this year’s Index. Our dues paying members will be given a ballot to pick what they believe are the 10 most important issues to determine this year’s Index. We of course will have more debate as to which will be the most important 10. Everyone is allowed to participate in the debate, dues paying or not.

++  ANNOUNCEMENT

*  TUESDAY EVENING  -  EDMOND AREA  -  A very informative meeting to explain the problems with Common Core Curriculum was scheduled for May 21st, but due to the Tornado which struck Moore, the meeting had to be re-scheduled to Tuesday evening, June 18th. The location will be the Edmond Community Center, 28 East Main Street in downtown Edmond with the meeting beginning at 7:00 p.m.. Speakers will be Jenni White, founder and Executive Director of ROPE (Restore Oklahoma Public Education) and Dr. Everett Piper, President of Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville. Folks, this is a very important issue to understand and this is the meeting to attend for that information. Jenni does an excellent job and has done tremendous research on the subject. I have never heard Dr. Piper on this issue, but we have had him speak at OCPAC on at least 2 occasions and once he was the Key-note speaker at the Clouds Over America Banquet. He is a tremendous speaker, factual, succinct and speaks with a lot of authority. This particular meeting will be worth traveling a long distance to attend. We still have time to stop Common Core. About 3 weeks ago on the Glen Beck Blaze show, David Barton put together a large group of folks concerned and active about this issue. One of the things David said was that this was simply the latest attempt over the past few decades by the federal government to control local education. Even though Janet Barresi, Oklahoma State Schools Superintendent, throws Barton’s name around as someone who has approved of Oklahoma’s social studies section of Common Core, Barton made it crystal clear on Beck’s show that he is solidly opposed to Common Core as a program.

P.S. Recently the Oklahoman used Barton’s name as one opposed to “Nullification”, now I wonder if they will use his name as one who is opposed to Common Core? Don’t hold your breath as I believe water would have a better chance in hell of turning into ice than to see the Oklahoman oppose Common Core.

*  TUESDAY EVENING  -  TULSA AREA  -  The Tulsa Area Republican Assembly will host their monthly meeting, this Tuesday evening, June 18th at the Golden Corral, 71st Street and Mingo in Tulsa. Folks will gather at 6 for dinner and the meeting will begin at 6:45 p.m.. The speaker this month will be Michael Bates of www.batesline.com

*  THURSDAY EVENING  -  SHAWNEE AREA  -  The Central Oklahoma Tea Party will host their monthly meeting this Thursday evening at Van’s Pig Stand, 717 East Highland in Shawnee. Folks will gather at 6 for dinner and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.. Speaking this month will be Matt Ball the new State Director representing the organization, Americans for Prosperity. Matt took over for Stuart Jolly about 3 months ago. He will lay out his plans to help make Oklahoma a more conservative state going forward.

++  WHY WE MUST OPPOSE FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LEGISLATION!

The simple answer is that the slick politicians in Washington and the special interest groups who control them DO NOT INTEND to secure our borders. As such, any legislation that might become law, will, in its final form, be just another amnesty scheme and become the set-up for the next wave of millions of illegal aliens to invade our nation. It became apparent that lawmakers had no desire to secure the borders when a recent amendment to the “gang of 8” senate bill was defeated. The amendment would require the border to be secured for 6 months before other parts of the bill were enacted and the senate said NO to such an idea.

Any comprehensive immigration bill, let me repeat, ANY COMPREHENSIVE immigration bill will be a deception, and will not bring about secure borders. The reason for this statement, as former Congressman Tom Tancredo told us at OCPAC a number of years ago, neither the Republicans nor the Democrats want to solve this problem. The Washington Republicans have “whored” themselves out to big business that wants a continual flow of cheap labor and the Democrats know that any move towards a path to citizenship will result in large numbers of new Democrat voters, no matter how much the Republicans try to reach out to this growing minority.

In years past I have tried to avoid talking about future immigration policy as any such discussion will become pointless in light of the first step, which is securing the border. Number 1 in securing the border is to build an effective fence along the entire stretch of the border to the South first and then a fence on the North. I don’t care if it is a double fence with a mine field in-between, get it done, build a fence that will stop the invasion. Will such a fence stop all illegal aliens from invading America? NO, however it will eliminate the vast majority of the illegals from coming in. Once an effective fence is built, then we can use all the technology we want to enhance our efforts, but anything short of an effective fence will be a waste of money. I don’t care what it costs, it is one of the highest priorities for the federal government to get it done. Then we can have a public discussion about future immigration policy.

Shame on Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan for whoring themselves out to the special interest groups who are paying for the media adds claiming that they are conservatives looking for a way to fix our “broken” immigration laws. For the most part, our system is broken because we refuse to enforce the laws already on the books.

Recently a U.S. Congressman’s Washington office was invaded by several of the arrogant illegal alien “bastards” (I am using this word in its Biblical meaning) known as the Obama protected “dream children”. These are illegal alien children, not born here, but brought here illegally by their law breaking illegal alien parents. These kids, probably in their teens, were chiding the Congressman for his refusal to support “comprehensive immigration reform” and refused to leave his office. The Congressman contacted an official with ICE (Immigration Control & Enforcement) and was told that they could do nothing as they have been prohibited from touching these illegal young people by an Obama edict. He finally got them removed by the Capitol police force.

There is an old saying: fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Folks, are you going to play the part of a fool and go along with this deceptive effort to allow 10 plus million illegal aliens to become citizens and forever assure we will never have another Republican President? To assure that the Democrat numbers in Congress will increase? If not, then it is imperative that you contact your U.S. Representative and tell them to stop ANY kind of a comprehensive bill from passing out of the U.S. House.

According to some astute Washington observers, even if a good bill gets out of the House, once it mixes with a Senate bill in a conference committee, the good will be removed and a bad bill will be presented in both chambers and will likely pass in the House with full Democrat support along with a handful of flakey RINO Republicans. Thankfully, Senators Inhofe and Coburn opposed the Senate bill, but we can’t take anything for granted in the House. Every Oklahoma U.S. Representative (especially Tom Cole) must be contacted on this issue and told to oppose any COMPREHENSIVE immigration piece of legislation. The only kind of legislation that should be considered could only deal with securing the border and the primary piece of that bill must be to build a fence across the entire border. A fence across the Southern border could be built for 5 to 10 billion dollars which is shoe lace money in Washington terms.

Please contact your Congressman as soon as possible:

District 1 - Jim Bridenstine, (202) 225-2211,   FAX (202) 225-9187

District 2 - Markwayne Mullin, (202) 225-2701,   FAX (202) 225-3038

District 3 - Frank Lucas, (202) 225-5565,   FAX (202) 225-8698

District 4 - Tom Cole, (202) 225-6165,   FAX (202) 225-3512

District 5 - James Lankford, (202) 225-2132,   FAX (202) 226-1463

The worst mistake made by President Ronald Reagan, was to sign the amnesty bill. Only we the citizens can stop an even greater mistake from happening, by pressuring our congressmen to oppose COMPREHENSIVE immigration legislation.

I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday.
