Hey FUREEous Fam. The relief efforts at Gowanus Houses are generally over. All buildings have heat, electricity and hot water with the exception of one building.

We thank EVERYONE for your contributions to help residents in need.

The Gowanus Community Center is closed today and will reopen on Monday from 10 a.m. to
2 p.m. to deliver care packages to homebound, sick and elderly residents as NYCHA wants the community center cleared out and closed by Tuesday. (So it can go back to being underutilized as opposed to being a resource for the residents of Gowanus.)

Volunteers are needed between those hours.

One thing we know for sure...this is only the beginning. FUREE will be working with Gowanus residents, neighbors, community organizations, faith based organizations to build power to win changes for residents.

A special meeting of all who are interested in helping residents win their demands will be announced on this page shortly.

Our sisters and brothers in Coney Island, Red Hook, the Rockaways and Staten Island are still without power, heat and hot water. They need support. Food donations and supplies should be sent their way.

CONEY ISLAND: Coney Island Gospel Assembly Church located at 2828 Neptune Avenue

RED HOOK: Red Hook Initiative located at 767 Hicks Street in Red Hook, corner of West 9th

For additional opportunities, please the Occupy Sandy web page or facebook page.

Thank you for all that you have done!
