A suggested process for collectively dealing with bad actors within a
community.

Thanks for the link to that article.

We need to reach a consensus about what the important boundaries are.  We're there (or close) with some issues such as drug/alcohol use at OA.   A lot of us need some help recognizing other boundary issues that harm the group: intimidation, domination, unilateralism, interrupting, name calling, and other forms of oppression (that we may not always recognize because we belong to one or more privileged classes).  It's easy to become a B.A. in a GA when important conflicts surface and people get emotional.  We can remind each other of the need to respect the boundaries we agree upon and build a strong container for conflict. (We're not in the movement expecting everyone to agree with us about everything.) Training, role-playing, modelling, etc. will make us more effective in the kind of boundary-setting behavior that Sarah Robinson describes.

Please help me understand why this thread appears here in google
groups but it isn't on the forum section of occupyaustin's website.
Thanks,

Right now the two are not connected - and I must admit I don't visit the forums :)

That's a good idea though.  I wonder if any web developers have experimented with embedding/presenting a Google Group as a website forum?  Let's ask the Google: the Google says the answer is yes you can embed them as an iframe.  I will pass this along to the web team.

In the immediate term, anyone should feel free to crosspost the link.

If the occupyaustin.org forum does not allow email notification, attachments, private messaging, and group messaging, you are welcome to link to occupyvirtually.org.forum. I set it up for Austin, but no one seems to want to use it. I understand wanting to stay on the .org but I wonder if its forum is providing the options needed to grow the movement. In any event, anyone that wants to use it are welcome. It could be used to privately cus and discuss until an idea is ready for GA. Any group can be self moderated.

@marion: I have wondered why much of this information isn't being
cross-posted to the OA forums...
@dennis: I thought the admin for OA was trying to step down? The set-
up for your site is very appealing, but the OA forums have all the
numbers/posts/members. Would it be easier (possible) to assist with
what's already up and running?
