Friday October 12th, 7pm The A-Space -THE LASER LIFE (a queer
empowered, multi-culti sci fi reading!) A reading series dedicated to
giving voice to the swirl of diversity that exists in the known and
unknown universe, LASER LIFE is a queer empowered reading series that
serves as a gateway to the dreaming. At its core, it’s a reading of
science and speculative fiction and fantasy, with the intensity of a
sweaty, West Philly poetry slam on mind-altering, homemade drugs.
Through a hum of chaos, this series takes the othering (read:
exoticizing) aspects of our experiences and renders them in lush
tapestry, placing at center stage the marginalized and forgotten. More

Saturday, October 13, Noon - Blow the whistle on Lockheed Martin and
the Militarization of Space! Demonstrate at Lockheed Martin in King
of Prussia, PA Mall & Goddard Boulevards (behind the King of Prussia
Mall), PA. Receiving more than $43 billion a year in Pentagon
contracts, Lockheed Martin is the world's #1 war profiteer, the U.S.'s
chief producer of nuclear and space weapons, and is among the chief
manufacturers of drone warfare technology. Lockheed Martin produces
drones vehicles, the Hellfire missiles they carry, and the satellites
which enable their remote control from the continental U.S. to targets
on the other side of the world. Hold a banner or sign. Loft a kite
(bring your's if you can). There will be balloons to release. Blow
your whistle (bring your's if you can) . And in the event of rain,
bring an umbrella. There's a corporation that's making a killing!
And, you know its name: Lockheed Martin!
For six years now the Keystone State “Skinheads” have come out every
October for their “Leif Ericson Day Celebration”. The One People's
Project have tried to oppose them each and every year. We get
successful more and more, to the point where they had to organize this
quietly so we wouldn’t know it was happening. But they put these two
announcements for their Saturday event at 12 Noon, and that let the
cat out the bag...
http://www.stormfront.org/forum/t914005/ and
http://www.stormfront.org/forum/t914668/. Do note that their last
event, a concert in Lebanon, PA, featured two of the bands that used
to include Wade Page, the person who killed six people in a Sikh
Temple in August. Also note that the local activist community has
slowly began to realize how important it is to oppose these clowns,
although last year police went through Occupy discouraging people from
doing so. I hope people can come out to show them that their type of
world will not be one we will accept. Please call

The first Monthly Neighborhood Gathering held by the Money Out of
Politics Working Group, aka Philly Rootstrikers will be 10/14/12 at
2pm at Rittenhouse Sq with a rain location at the Ethical Humanist
Society of Philadelphia. MOPWG hopes to hold these each month in a
different Philadelphia Neighborhood. The purpose of this meeting is to
create a space for engaging in discussion about the corrupting
influence of money over our government. Our weekly meetings can
sometimes be dominated by strategy, action planning, and
brainstorming. Unfortunately, this limits our ability to discuss the
affect of money's influence over politics. Many of us like to teach
and learn about how so many problems America faces can be tied back to
money's influence over government. And while many Americans may
believe money buys results in Congress, they may not know how much it
actually influences the various aspects of legislation and life. As a
result, we hope bringing our meeting into more public spaces will make
available this 'money out of politics' dialogue to not only our group
but to the general public as well. For more information contact

Tear Up Your Student Debt - Day of Action Wednesday, October 17, 2012.
We're calling on everyone who wants to protest outrageously high
education costs and mounting student debt to organize actions in their
area on October 17, where we collectively rip up (or burn up) our
student debt statements or tuition bills. We want to send a message
that enough is enough! CANCEL STUDENT DEBT! FIGHT FOR FREE EDUCATION
FOR THE 99%! EDUCATION IS A HUMAN RIGHT! 1 and 5 students are
defaulting on their loans. 50% of the 2011 class is either unemployed
or underemployed. Student debt has reached over a trillion dollars.
Over the last 10 years, tuition and fees at state schools have
increased 72%. The times are ripe for action! Let's show the 1% how
serious and inflamed we are about the need for an overhaul of the
education system by shining a light from the ashes of our student debt
statements across the country.
