MINUTES from Occupy City Heights (OCH) PLANNING MEETING (Noon, Sat., 3/17/12):

 

PRESENT:  Alison, Damaso, Evie, Joni, Mariah, Matthew, & Sam

 

OUTREACH:  OCH wasn’t granted permission to set up a booth at the Farmer’s Market this morning, so Matthew & Alison popped up a “rogue canopy” right across the street!!!  Much respect to both of them for handing out flyers & talking to everyone they could, despite the relocation & the rainstorm!

 

KICK-OFF DATE:  The date of the big OCH kick-off event was moved from 11 am, Sat., April 14, to the following Sat.—APRIL 21, 2012 (to avoid conflicting with the conference at the Peace Resource Center).  This gives us an extra week for community outreach & still allows time to promote the massive May Day event.  MARK YOUR CALENDAR TODAY! 

 

KICK-OFF PLANS:  Damaso can get us a free “Jumper” for the kiddos—still need to check on permits, insurance, etc.  Evie will invite the Occupella Chorus to provide some entertainment.

 

SURVEYS:  Joni will create a draft of a brief survey to assess community strengths, needs, interests, etc.

 

NEXT STEPS:  Continue outreaching to City Heights friends & neighbors.  Get more resident-Occupiers involved in kick-off planning meetings.  Set up “rogue canopy” again (with signs, flyers, etc.) at 9 am this Saturday, 3/24 (next to library).  HELP NEEDED, PLEASE!

 

NEXT MEETING:  11 AM, SAT., 3/24/12 @ Fairmount & Wightman—One hour EARLIER than usual!

 

(NOTE:  Today’s meeting was very brief, due to wet, cold weather—hope for lots of warmth & sun on 3/24!)
