2nd day in a row at the lighthouse, i was solo yesterday. I was glad andy came out this evening to sail with me, the string monkeys were everywhere.
I took a few shots of him and gave to bill to post on his blog, http://obxbeachlife.blogspot.com/

Sick!  Thanks for shooting!!  Kiters were a non issue-  I gave up one or two waves for "aloha's sake"  and I definitely received plenty of stoke and courtesy on the water from others.

Fun Sesh!!  I'll give it an B+ overall.

What was the direction at the lighthouse? Looks like Andy was
catching side-off with that cutback.

It must have been pretty light wind if Andy was out on that massive
85L board.

Classic Lighthouse, Ralph- Lots of current on the inside, coupled with lighter winds inside. Nicely powered on the outside with 85 liters and the IQ 4.7. Staying upwind wasn't too hard, even with the 50+ yard long wave rides we were getting!!

On the wave, it was pure surfing though... no sail juice at all. Dunno why it looks side off, Mike? It was definitely side on though. Awesome conditions!

Thanks again for the call and the photos, Keith!!

Andy,

Just looked like your sail was full of power on the cutback.  You make it look so good.

Hey Mike,  Sorry, I didn't mean for that to read weird.  I agree- it looks side off with full power and glassy faces!  In reality, it was side on with zero sail power on the face.  I guess it's all just apparent wind filling out the sail, and all the drive is coming from surfing the board on the wave face.

I really love conditions like that, as long as you can get yourself into the wave easily!!

Hope to see you back at the beach again soon!

Andy,

Me too.  Hey, I've gotta train if I'm to win the AWT Hatteras event ;)  Don't worry, your not my competition (too young).  I'm gunning for Keith.  I'm sure he's scared.

Mike
