Hi All

Natalie had the following to say on the issue:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I assume their will be a consultation with neighbours before anything
is approved? can the Obs Civic plse keep an eye on this ball for us? We
need to be vigilant about this as these things sometimes slip through
quietly. I live a few streets away and would object on the grounds of
traffic congestion alone, students or not. The corner of lwr Wrensch
and Willow is a dangerously tight and so is the corner near the Ossian
Rd turn with the new townhouses (and this is before these Townhouses
( ? The Willows? ) are even inhabited).
Regards
Natalie

The reason I am posting this for her is because she replied to a
'message digest'. The problem with replying to message digests is that
they break the email thread, changing the subject from a meaningful
one (" Re: Delerict dairy development - 81 Lower Wrench rd") to a
completely meaningless one ("Re: [obsid] Digest for
obsid...@googlegroups.com - 5 Messages in 1 Topic"). This makes it
hard for people to follow conversations and those people with mail
clients that support threading will be even more annoyed as it creates
a new thread.

So, if you're getting email digests but wish to participate in the
discussion you're going to have to do one of two things:
Either:
1. Switch your subscription to a full subscription where you receive
the emails as they are sent to the group. (I can help you with this if
you're stuck, just email me directly)
Or
2. View the group online at http://groups.google.com/group/obsid-chat/
and reply to the specific message there.

Thanks for your understanding and thanks to everyone for all the
enthusiastic participation.

Regards,
J.

Thanks everyone for their valuable feedback.
I had a meeting with Mr. Abader and my neighbour at 52 Lower Wrensch last night.I brought along an architect for technical support.
The plans he is proposing are out of council regulation on many issues, but if he gets 10 x signatures from surrounding neighbours, the council will pass it.
His plan is also to build in face brick, the plans given to council being with plaster and paint so another naughty slip there.
He does have 3 signatures already from neighbours.
I plan to have another meeting next week with him and other neighbours – most of whom are not happy at all, incl me.

Bottom line...if we don’t sign he can’t develop it. He will then demolish, put a fence around – he say’s.
Its not entirely as simple as that though, because he seems to have some aces up his sleeve he is not showing yet but he has mentioned that he has plans passed for a block of flats on this property...

We are being vigilant and all the help we can get the better.
However having said that, I think we should be professional about it as well, not get too emotional and heated...we need to know what the law allows. Its rather counter productive to just go in and complain without some serious suggestions.

We are having a meeting this Saturday 20th Feb @10:30 to discuss the development of proposed 8 double storey units.
Mr. Abader, the developer, and his architect Mr. Osman will both be present, as will some surrounding residents.

Anyone who takes an interest in and has something valuable to offer is most welcome to join us to discuss - we want it to be constructive.
People with knowledge in this department and who is willing and interested please join. Rob, Brian (both of you), Jonathan – you’re welcome.
Anyone from OCA also welcome.

I have been to look at a similar development of Mr Abader’s in Woodstock (upon his recommendation for me to see how well he develops) – Corner Greatmore and Kirkmore – and its nasty. Looks like low cost housing. Needless to say he thinks its fab and I’m nasty.

Look forward to fighting the good fight...

Fight well and hard - unfortunately I am away for the weekend, so cannot join you.
I am copying Ryan Brown from the Heritage committee, hopefully he will join in.

Running rings around us!
1 You buy a property in good order in a Heritage area.
2 You know the  zoning alllows multiple dwellings but you are told the main house can't be demolished.
3 So you vandalise it.
4 You are told to restore it.
5 So you sell it to your business partner/friend/brother-in-law/neighbour.
6  The new owner has now bought an piece of land with a derelict house on it.
7 The new owner submits the same plans to the council.
9  The new owner knows that if you have an empty piece of land and zoning allows multiple dwellings the only restrictions on it are height and density.
Hope I'm wrong!

All the more reason why strong representation at the meeting tomorrow wouldn't be a bad idea......

Yesterday around 12:30 a horse and card was loading rusted roof sheets from the derelict dairies.

I radiod Charlie Delta 20 (Vetus Schola) and whilst they drove passed the premises it seems we had communication problems as the left the area and did not answer the radio. Minutes later the the loaded horse and card passed me in Molenvliet Road

Did the scrapyard dealers had permission to card off roof sheets? Is the owner demolishing the existing premises?

Yes he is demolishing and has permission to do so from council.
