"Dear Brian,
Thank you very much for the two avacado trees which
you delivered last term. I am sorry I was not there to receive them. My mother
had passed away in Pietermaritzburg and I needed to leave
immediately.
I have other rather sad news to report. Christian
fell on Table Mountain on Sunday while hiking with friends and is in a critical
condition in Vincent Pallotti Hospital. He has severe injuries and will take a
long time recovering. Our greatest concern is that he received head injuries and
it is to early to tell how severe these are. His parents arrived on Monday
afternoon to be with him. We will only be able to see him next week if he shows
signs of improvement.
If you know of anyone in Observatory who would be
willing to work with me in the school garden, once or twice a week please could
you get them to contact me. They would have to volunteer their services. We used
to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8.00am to 10.00am but these times can be
negotiated. I would also like to ask for more cuttings if you have any as we
seem to be losing more than getting them to take. I will really miss Christian
as he knew how to make cuttings. We have a few small ones and I have managed to
grow one in a bottle so feel sure we can manage to grow cuttings eventually with
perseverance.
Thank you for your support and interest in our
garden project.
Kind Regards
Margie Rosenberg
