Hey Folks,

I've created an open source project for assisting with the migration
of basic security from one OBI 11g (FMW) source environment to a
target environment. The generated script is also perfect for creating
an inventory of application roles and assignments that can be used in
project documentation. This is a perfect tool for upgrades from OBI
10g to OBI 11g.

I am hoping that some of you advanced users can give it a test/beta
run and provide feedback or potentially consider contributing to the
project. More information about the project will continue to be
developed.

The project can be found here,

The first post and description of the project can be found here,

Hi Christian

Sounds very interesting. I'll take a look when I get a moment.

Could you confirm what open source license you are using? Based on something I did a few years ago, there are some licenses that are pretty restrictive (GPL-type licenses that require you to open-source anything you embed your code in), and others that pretty much grant to unrestrictive rights to do what you want (embed, for example, whilst keeping our source closed).

Also, could you confirm if it is Cap Gemini/BICG that is granting the open-source license, or Art Of BI? This might be an important question for some partners.

Good stuff!

Mark

Mark,

I am releasing this under the Apache License as of tomorrow. I'll be
updating the code today.

This means it is free to use, distribute, etc. Attribution is always
nice though.

The license is also being granted by the ArtOfBI.com and not
Capgemini.
So, it is open source and there is no need to worry about using it at
a client, etc.

Christian,

You might consider the WTFPL license. ;)

Awesome, kudos Christian! I see this as a very good sign that a first member of this community bravely takes the first step into that direction.

Keep 'em coming,

Chet,

I had never seen that license before. It's brilliant and simple.
