OBIEE 11g as an external facing Customer Portal

- does anyone have experience with developing an external facing portal using OBIEE 11g (I know of examples in 10g such as City of NY etc.,)? If so, will you be able to share some high-level thoughts and guidelines?

- What are the key architecture consideration should be in play especially to address any outside firewall and single sign-on requirements in 11g?
