We Need You! March 1 DAUK Elections and General Meeting

On March 1, Democrats Abroad UK will be holding its biannual general
meeting. I would URGE you all to RSVP right now to reserve your place
at this event. Write to secr...@democratsabroad.org.uk to ensure you
can attend and vote. (Location will be determined in part based on the
RSVPs.)

The meeting is important because it will be our opportunity to help
shape the organisation that will support Barack Obama's agenda over
the next four years.

This is also the meeting where we will elect the officers who will
serve for the next two years. I will be running to serve in the
position of Vice Chair, and will be hoping to serve alongside Bill
Barnard our current Chair who is running for re-election.

Bill is a considerate, thoughtful leader who has worked hard over the
past two years as we went thorugh a contentious primary process,
tripled our membership numbers and put on larger and more successful
events than ever before in our history.

As for myself, as most of you know, I have been working hard for
Barack Obama since September 2007. In July of 2008 I was hired by the
DNC to work full-time on registering and getting out the vote from
Americans Overseas. Even before the 2008 election cycle, however, I
have been an active member of Democrats Abroad for many years, serving
on the Executive Committee, leading the Bylaws Committee, chairing the
monthly London Speakeasies for many years, working on the 2006
Nominations Committee, and working on many events throughout the
years.

I am running to be your Vice Chair because I am a passionate believer
in the positive impact the Democrats Abroad can make on US politics.
Over the next two years, I will aim to:


* Continue to grow and expand our membership through outreach to
Americans around the country.

* Update and improve our communications, making more use of online
tools and targetting our communications geographically and by interest
groups.

* Ensure that Democrats Abroad is fully "campaign ready" in
preparation for the 2010 midterm elections

This election could turn out to be quite competitive - and it may
actually wind up pitting strong supporters of Barack Obama against
some folks who have been actively hostile to his agenda in the past.
So the stakes are high, and we are going to need each and every vote
to ensure the type of organisation that Barack needs and deserves
overseas.
